We spoke to a prisoner last week who wanted to share his account of a racist attack he experienced at the hands of Corrections staff in the Barton Jail. Read more on our FB post.

We wrote a zine about the project, its history, our experiences and our analysis on prison abolition. Check it out and find a link to a printable pdf here: https://t.co/87p5SrmgPO
Its time to talk seriously about how to stop new prisons from being built in Ontario.
Let's keep supporting the demands of prisoners in struggle on the inside while refusing to settle for less than a world without prison in our efforts on the outside.
Escaping Tomorrow’s Cages — #PrisonExpansion in Ontario
"Ontario is in the midst of an initiative to expand the provincial prison system in the east and the north, and our hope is for this text to contribute to a struggle capable of stopping it."

Tomorrow (Jan 15) we'll be outside the jail with banners and signs, to remind folks inside that they're not alone. Anyone is welcome to join us! We'll meet at 1pm at the top of the bridge on Ferguson Ave North.
The covid outbreak at Barton jail is ongoing, with at least 43 inmate and 25 staff cases. We haven't heard much from inside recently, and can safely assume that the jail is heavily locked down.
There has been quite a bit of organizing in the jail recently. Its been targeted with repression so we will share the stories soon. Prisoners are fighting inside for their health and dignity, and they need solidarity. Reach out to us by email [email protected]
Covid outbreak in the Barton Jail # HamOnt
We have heard from prisoners on 2 different floors that there are at least 17 confirmed cases of covid in the Barton. Full report:

Every single range is triple bunked. The jail has responded to the outbreak as they have in the past, with lockdowns. There is not enough room in the cells to stand and move - nothing healthy about that. Prisoners are demanding masks, sanitizer, disinfectant and more soap
Niagara Hunger Strike enters third day
Admin retaliates against strikers, but let's show them that our loved ones on the inside are never alone
Phone zap tomorrow, May 3rd! Please call the Niagara Detention Centre, 905-227-6321 and press 0

Their demands are simple and prisoners should not be having to risk their health and face reprisals over this.
We celebrate their collective organizing and courage, let's respond with small actions of our own. Make the call tomorrow if you can.
