Hi! I've released DigimonNDSRomEditor, the first dedicated ROM editor for Digimon World Dawn/Dusk.
This tool allows you to directly edit the games' data: stats, digivolutions, starters, wild encounters, in-game text, and much more.
Check it out here: https://t.co/WV7YBRCYRm
For the first time since January 14, 2014. You can now play Pokémon Dream World again, along with tuck in new Pokémon, receive items, and wake-up Pokémon!
Now enjoy this demonstration:)
@GoldenDenn Update on this: apparently some sections of the rom expect specific text sizes (e.g. digimon names); a friend of mine tried to change BigMamemon's name and ended up with the attached image
Where were the white squares appearing? This may be an edge-case or something similar

@joseluisjm97 At this point, the graphics part still needs more research; first steps in this direction will be to make boss-exclusives playable (e.g. SkullBaluchimon), then porting sprites that have a similar data structure (e.g. Lost Evolution exclusives). Still a long way to go, though!
@scruffyjay Names are editable, but capped by their original size; on the graphics end, there's still a lot of research that still needs to be done before we're able to introduce new sprites; that said, I believe we'll eventually get there (likely not soon, but eventually)!
@SSJ3Metaridley Also, if anyone wants to pick this up:
https://t.co/IVpEePmUjm -> this details how to correct the checksum after editing the save, and where to look in the memory
https://t.co/XO5p1RdNFx -> this is an extensive set of code notes that detail the memory contents of Dawn/Dusk
@SSJ3Metaridley This tool was specifically built for editing ROMs; however, most of the research/problems that blocked the development of a save editor for Dawn/Dusk have already been solved, so I'll very likely work on that eventually as well [:
@GoldenDenn Regarding the spanish version, at the moment the offset mapping only takes into account the base US versions. Games with language patches are currently not editable, which is a limitation the randomizer also has; applying the language patch after editing should work fine though
@GoldenDenn By latin characters, do you mean characters with accents and stuff like that? I know that any character in ÀÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏĐÑÒÓÔÕÖØÙÚÛÛÜÝ¡¿àáâãäåæçèéêëìíîïðñòóôõöøùúûüý should work, as shown in the picture
@Dachlet14 Yep! The stats of base digimon, enemy encounters and fixed bosses are all editable, as shown in the picture below; at the moment we're still missing some named labels for boss-only digimon (e.g. Grimmon), but this is being looked into and should be fixed soon [:
@SSJ3Metaridley Eventually, yes! There's still a lot of research to be done for those games, but this is definitely one of the main priorities!
Dawn/Dusk already had most of the work done with the randomizer, so it was just a matter of building a proper UI for editing the games [:
The Digimon NDS games have amazing potential for passion projects, and even though it's been 19 years since their release, I truly believe that these are only the first steps in building a full-fledged rom-hacking community around them. [:
The editor currently allows editing of:
- Digimon base data
- Move data
- Starter packs
- Standard, Armor, DNA digivolutions
- Wild encounters, item drops
- Quest data
- Equipment, consumables, farm items
- In-game text
- QoL patches (same as the randomizer)

There's a new update on the Generator today:
1) A bugfix on the player's names, where they would start to move some pixels towards the top whenever it got more players.
2) If your tournaments target a more international audience, you can add country flags next to their name. Ex:
Time to update the generator for some Champions tournaments! Added the new megas and their Mega Stones.
If you still don't see them, please refresh the page as it may be cahced.
Also, don't worry, if you still have ScVi tournaments, you can just change the format in the dropdown!
(Likely) bidding farewell to Gen 9 with a Top 16 finish at the 2026 Seville Special. Very happy w/ my team call and level of play throughout the weekend. The Spanish community has been very kind to me during my time playing VGC so it's a pleasure to compete alongside you guys ❤️
