@UrbanAffairsRev @JayRickabaugh @PittMPPM @leland_suzanne@MargaretWeir4 In an innovative contribution, @Richardson invites us to consider #BIDs as a form of collective action that form to leverage common resources to solve problems and what lessons we can learn from how they cross jurisdictional boundaries.

I’m continuing to press OMB to reject any plans that impact the MSA minimum requirement and have a negative impact on rural communities in ND & across the country. https://t.co/itEFwNLQhl
I sent a bipartisan letter with @RepSusanWild to oppose OMB’s proposed rule change that would impact 144 communities' metropolitan statistical area (MSA) status. The proposed change would strip valuable economic development tools from these small cities.

OMB is entertaining a proposal to raise the minimum population for an MSA designation to 100,000 from 50,000. Five MSAs in Indiana would lose their designation, economic development tools, and potential federal funding. @SenToddYoung & I wrote to OMB asking them to reconsider.
via @UArizonaEBRC Name Games: Revising the MSA Designation?: Valorie Rice, Senior Business Information Specialist Under a recent OMB proposal, four Arizona MSAs could be redefined as micropolitan areas Arizona currently has seven metropolitan areas:… https://t.co/3SqdOSQgGl
The OMB's proposed changes to defining MSAs is more than "just statistical" and will have real implications for federal funding, planning, and research.
OMB'S MSA redefinition proposal threatens to undermine the effectiveness of federal relief policy & aid in communities aiming to recover & reinvent. At this pivotal moment in our nation’s recovery, @APA_Planning urges @OMBPress to postpone pending more comprehensive review.
This is a very important proposal that is going to need a lot of consideration. We and @ProjectRigo will be sharing the responses that we see, like this one on the implications for federal funding to #nonmetro counties, to get a broader sense of implications.
The deadline to comment on the OMB proposal to change how we measure #MSAs is *this Friday*.
See the thread below for more details and for our response. Please consider signing on to our response or submitting your own.
These changes are important!
Check out the link below for more about our response (note: link goes to a form that includes our submission. You do not have to be a signatory to read it).

A new paper out of our project by @JayRickabaugh explores how intergovernmental coordination is organized and finds exciting, unexpected, and significant similarities between rural and non-rural #RIGOs.
This Nov, @ProjectRigo lost a leader with Dave Miller's passing.
We reflect on the importance of the forthcoming @UrbanAffairsRev Forum on the "State of the Field of American Regionalism" to Dave's legacy and the project's future.
