#ThrowbackThursday ⏪
What happens when young people come together to learn about human rights, leadership, and activism?
We're taking it back to Days 1 and 2 of the third cohort of the #YouthPowerAction2026 Training, where participants explored the role of youth within Amnesty International and unpacked the fundamental human rights principles contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Zimbabwe's Constitution. 🇿🇼📖
The sessions sparked lively discussions, critical thinking, and powerful reflections on how human rights shape our everyday experiences. From questioning assumptions to sharing personal stories, participants demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and creating positive change. 💡⚡
By the end of the sessions, participants were able to:
📌 Explain and apply key human rights principles.
📌 Connect the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to real-life experiences and contemporary issues.
📌 Articulate why protecting human rights matters for everyone, everywhere.
Looking back, these sessions were more than just an introduction to human rights—they were the foundation of a growing movement of young people ready to speak out, organise, and help build a more just and equitable future. 🚀

Congratulations to the second cohort of the #YouthPowerAction2026 Training! 🎉✨
The 2026 programme features three residential cohorts bringing together passionate, creative, and driven young people from all ten provinces of Zimbabwe. These young leaders are already making an impact in their communities through initiatives focused on climate justice, sexual and reproductive health rights, students’ rights, social protection, and the defence of civic freedoms. 📢💡
Through #YouthPowerAction, participants gain the skills, knowledge, and platform to actively shape a more just and equitable world while becoming part of a global movement committed to protecting and promoting human rights. ❤️
Young people are not just the future — they are leading change today. 🔥

In the process of believing that our contry will protect our rights, it turns out Sovereignty preached is just an opportunity to empower the elite, while silencing the majority. The Justice department has been turned into a formal room for announcing oppression.

UPDATE 🚨

🔵⚪️ZINASU Press Statement: Schools open today - Restore free education NOW!
While Zambia has boldly passed free Education into law, our government continues to betray the future of our youth. Our radical position remains centred on the immediate restoration of FREE, QUALITY and SKILLS-BASED education for every Zimbabwean child!

Again we find ourselves asking ourselves, Is this the Zimbabwe, our true Heroes died for.
Today, human rights are just a rhetoric. the government continues to criminalize students.
We the young people wont remain idle while brothers stay behind bars

Two weeks ago, something powerful began…
We proudly convened the first cohort of the #YouthPowerAction Training 2026 — a bold step towards shaping the next generation of human rights leaders.
This year, Amnesty International Zimbabwe is equipping 100 young leaders (18–24) with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to challenge injustice and drive meaningful human rights impact in their communities.
Through #YouthPowerAction, young people are not just learning — they are organising, mobilising, and leading the charge for a more just and equitable society. ✊🏾
The 2026 programme will bring together three dynamic residential cohorts, uniting voices from all ten provinces of Zimbabwe — diverse, passionate, and ready to act.
From climate justice 🌍 to sexual and reproductive health and rights, students’ rights, social protection, and the defence of civic space — this cohort is already making an impact where it matters most.
💥 This is more than a training. It’s a movement.

We condemn Zambia's government's open-ended “postponing” of the RightsCon digital rights conference after alleged Chinese pressure.

2 Days to go, and we stand besides our brothers again in Court. They were denied bail and forced to stay in unjustified detention.
We urge the Judicial and the gvt to execute justice, not people.

Beyond the buzzwords the real question is why AI matters🕸️
It’s not whether we’ll use AI, but whether we’ll understand it enough to benefit and protect ourselves.
In Bulawayo, 30 young Zimbabweans explored this at our AI Literacy forum—turning ideas into opportunities.
