Overlooked data and infrastructure reshaping markets— AI compute, finance, and the second-order effects most people miss.
Everyone's waiting for the AI Tsunami. It's already here, it just showed up in the bond market first.
US interest bill: $970b.
Defense: $917b.
Meta capex: $34.9b.
Operating cash: $32.8b.
France now borrows above the us.
Spacex pays 8%.
Governments and AI are bidding for the same borrowed dollars. one of them prints, one of them doesn't. watch which one blinks
@Barchart A death cross on the same day GE Vernova reported $29.3B of orders, up 96%, and a $197B backlog. The chart looks backward. The order book is about four years of revenue forward.
@Barchart Spot is the noisy part. The long-term contract price is up to $97 and Sprott's uranium trust trades about 12% under NAV, so it can't raise money to buy. This move is utilities signing contracts, not funds chasing.
@Cointelegraph Nvidia's last big acquisition, the $40B Arm deal, died in Feb 2022, two months after the FTC sued, and cost Nvidia a $1.36B charge. Buying the place where everyone shares open models looks like a harder sell than buying a chip designer.
@zerohedge Capex up 60%, approved in the best quarter Samsung has ever had. Last time memory was this hot, the same chip division went on to lose 14.9T won in 2023.
@WatcherGuru Wall Street has paid for a head start before. In 2013 about a dozen clients paid Thomson Reuters to get the Michigan consumer survey 2 seconds early, until New York's attorney general shut it down. Now the market-moving data is a Truth Social post.
Google's new bank custody product can split a Bitcoin key three ways: Google, the bank, another cloud. A rulebook checks every transfer before it signs.
Same instinct as multisig: nobody holds the whole key. Plus a compliance department.
Banks are running out of excuses.
@LukeGromen Part of that 600bp is birthdays. Census has the 65+ share of the population going from 12.4% in 2004 to 18.0% in 2024, so the retirement wave is doing a lot of the chart's lifting.
@PeterSchiff Fed funds at 3.75 to 4% with CPI on pace for about 5% is still a negative real rate. Even after another 50bp, savers keep paying the subsidy, and the biggest borrower collecting it is Washington.
@KobeissiLetter Self-funded from FY29, after a $20B stock sale already done, another $10B of equity and $10B of debt, plus vendor financing, customer-supplied hardware and customer prepayments. Self-funded is doing a lot of work in that sentence.
@AdamBLiv The guest list says a lot: Morgan Stanley, Citi and Wells Fargo are speaking at Google's MPC symposium today. Banks don't usually turn up to a custody vendor's launch for the coffee.
@BitcoinNewsCom Those 2.48 BTC were about $50K in 2022 and are roughly $200K now. Worst trade the gang ever made was the one they forced on someone else.
@wallstengine Nvidia's own 8-GPU DGX A100 launched at $199,000 in 2020. This listing works out to about $49,750 per 8-GPU server, so six years took three quarters off the price. The chips depreciate like cars, the loans against them don't.
@PeterSchiff Bloomberg says the jump was capital goods: computers, chips and telecom gear for the AI buildout. Our newest trade deficit is with our own data centers.
