How many "facts" do you consume a day that are actually just well-packaged fiction?

It's incredibly easy to slide an unverified statistic into a polished article and watch it go viral. Once a number looks official, our brains just accept it.

Here is a perfect example we caught today:

"Since the adoption of the Housing First mandate, the U.S. homeless population increased by nearly 35% nationally and by 40% in California."

Proofoo flagged the claim as false because the data simply didn't back it up.
