@ingelramdecoucy@CallMeK1123 Exactly. Pennies inside the cake were also an invaluable lesson for savings and financial planning. Smash cake?! 1 year-olds should be already eating cake with a knife and fork.
The Toronto Star is lying.
These supplementary benefits are not being restored for "refugees," but for people whose refugee claims have been rejected or not yet heard, i.e. for bogus and unproven claimants.
That includes people who came to Canada, invented a fake story of persecution that was rejected even by our now extremely gullible asylum process, and are now over staying to abuse Canada's generosity.
It also includes tens of thousands of people who came here in the Trudeau wave of *temporary* foreign workers, and on *temporary* student visas, only to file asylum claims to extend their stay in Canada, at taxpayers expense.
The Toronto Star has a habit of debasing the meaning of "refugee" (i.e. someone with a well founded fear of persecution) to anyone who would claim it, regardless of the truth or the merits of their case.
The Star is an object lesson for why public trust in the media has plummeted.
(On the merits of this, what is wrong with asking these people to pay a small share of the costs of supplementary benefits that most Canadian taxpayers don't have?)
No coincidence that Trump cuts Ukraine's air defenses just as intelligence shows North Korea moving ballistic missile units toward Ukraine, as well as forbidding Musk from allowing Ukrainians to use Starlink on Russian territory for taking out these launchers.
On Ukraine, Trump wants what Putin wants - a weakened and desperate Ukraine, susceptible to whatever deal the Kushner/Witkoff carpetbaggers roll into Kyiv with..
