If you look at in the context of CANNY LAD inbreeding it paints an entirely different picture to what you are saying. There have been 72 stakes winners worldwide with a duplication of CANNY LAD. It can’t be a coincidence that 32 of those stakes winners (44.4%) are by IAI or a son of IAI.

It’s not an internal bleed (EIPH) the horse has been scoped on multiple occasions and has never shown any blood on scope it is a trace of blood that is seen after the race that is likely from a weak blood vessel in his nostril. Frustrating and understand they have to declare it but the horse ran very well pulled up 100% and is not showing any signs of stress or discomfort post race. Ceolwulf’s health is paramount to us and will always be put first

On October 27, 2019, a little grey foal was facing immediate peril after his mother ROSES FOR DEB died during birth.
By some miraculous intervention, a nearby mare named SHIGERU SENDAN gave birth to another colt by the same stallion, MERCHANT NAVY, within a 24-hour window of ROSES FOR DEB passing.
Thanks to the swift action of the team at Fernrigg Farm, the little grey foal, affectionately named ‘RONNIE’, was introduced to SHIGERU SENDAN and the foster mother accepted him as one of her own, raising both colts to become successful racehorses, known as NAVAL TRADER (Ronnie) and PIRAEUS.
Last year at the races in Brisbane, we were able to reunite the brothers for the first time in 5 years and safe to say they recognised each other!
We reflect on this remarkable story as we have retired NAVAL TRADER from racing. He has been placed in the expert care of one of his former track riders Bec Young!
