NDS2 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe is slashing trade bottlenecks!

The US$232 million Forbes One-Stop Border Post modernisation project has officially moved from blueprint to reality.

🏗️ Progress: Early construction is underway, with site clearing in progress and a 500-truck staging area beginning to take shape.

📈 Expected Impact: Modern border infrastructure and smart customs systems are set to accelerate cargo processing, reduce waiting times, lower trade costs, and strengthen regional connectivity between Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

🎯 Supporting Vision 2030 through NDS2: The project is a key enabler of Zimbabwe's National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), which prioritises efficient transport and logistics infrastructure, trade facilitation, regional integration, and private sector-led economic growth. By modernising one of the country's strategic gateways, the Forbes OSBP will enhance Zimbabwe's competitiveness as a regional trade and transit hub.

🌍 Once completed, the upgraded border post will boost the movement of goods and people, supporting industrialisation, export growth, job creation, and sustainable economic development.

ZEDCON 2026: Smart infrastructure as the foundation for Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030.

The fifth Zimbabwe Economic Development Conference (ZEDCON) is taking place from 29 September to 3 October 2026 at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo under the theme “Smart Infrastructure for an Upper Middle Income Society.” The conference brings together policymakers, researchers, business, development partners and other stakeholders to examine how infrastructure, innovation, technology and investment can accelerate Zimbabwe’s development trajectory. Its relevance to National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2) and Vision 2030 is direct in building the productive infrastructure and economic systems capable of improving competitiveness, service delivery and citizens’ quality of life.
