On Sunday 15th of September, our Head of Public Relations, @Psaltis_ , represented our organisation at the conference “Corruption: The Main Barrier to Youth Political Engagement,” organised by the Office of the Commissioner of the Citizen and the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus.

We emphasised the detrimental impact of corruption on trust in democratic institutions, highlighting how it discourages young people from engaging in political processes. Our conversations with young members of EYP Cyprus reveal that corruption is a significant concern, fostering distrust and disillusionment, which ultimately weakens democracy and limits youth participation.

Initiatives like this aim to inspire and empower the next generation, ensuring their voices are heard and their ideas help shape the future.

On the 30th of August the President of the House of Representatives, H.E. Ms. Annita Demetriou, took part in an open dialogue with the young participants of the 18th National Session of EYP Cyprus.

With the theme “Vesting Power in the Youth”, her excellency engaged in a series of very interesting discussions, exploring a wide range of topics, including empowering youth in civic spaces, the job market and the role of media in shaping public perception.

We are extending our deepest gratitude to the President of the House of Representatives for taking the 18th National Session under her auspices and for her continuous support.

On the first day of the session, we welcomed the esteemed Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Ms Marilena Raouna for our Discussing Europe event for the 18th National Session during the Opening Ceremony.

The Deputy Minister engaged in a series of insightful discussions with our young participants, addressing a range of topics, including the challenges of fostering connections among young Europeans and the ongoing preparations for assuming the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026.

We'd like to thank her for her invaluable support as official Patron of our organisation.

On the 2nd of April, the @EP_President Ms. @RobertaMetsola , participated in a substantive dialogue with young individuals, addressing various topics including the forthcoming EU elections, the youth empowerment agenda, and enhancing EU awareness among the Cypriot public.

We extend our gratitude to the @Europarl_CY for facilitating this significant dialogue, essential for the advancement of our democracy and the cohesion of our union.

Our Head of Public Relations, @Psaltis_ , and Treasurer, Georgios Papaconstantinou, participated today in a substantive dialogue with the Vice President of the European Commission, Mr @MargSchinas, regarding the administration and future trajectory of Erasmus+, an emblematic European initiative.

The European Youth Parliament (EYP) Cyprus is pleased to announce its upcoming event, the Discussion Forum, which will take place on Saturday 30th of March, between 15:00 - 19:30, at “Melina Mercouri” Municipal Hall in Nicosia.

With the theme “Reimagining Humanity, Reigniting Hope: Youth in Democracy”, the event is aimed at young people aged 17 to 25 from all over Cyprus and focuses on the upcoming European Elections and emphasises the importance of young people actively participating in them.

The participation of distinguished experts and specialized speakers in the event's program ensures a productive dialogue and substantial engagement with key issues shaping contemporary political dynamics. Among them, @Europarl_CY, @oxygendemocracy, @nomoplatform, @Erasmus_CY and @orgneolaias.

Following this, a Panel Discussion will be held among Cypriot Members of the European Parliament, including Dr @stavrouel, Mr @MavridesCostas and Dr @NKizilyurek.

The event will be endorsed by the presence and address of the Deputy Minister of European Affairs, Ms. @marilena_raouna.

This event is taking place in the framework of the YOUthVOTE project, which is aimed at increasing civic democratic participation among young people ahead of the European Elections and funded by the @Europarl_EN and the European Union, and the Bertelsmann Foundation.
