I don’t like 50 year mortgages as the solution to the housing affordability crisis.

It will ultimately reward the banks, mortgage lenders. and home builders while people pay far more in interest over time and die before they ever pay off their home.

In debt forever, in debt for life!

Instead stop companies and asset managers from buying up single family homes, which has driven the price of homes and forced homebuyers to compete with corporations that turn thousands of homes into permanent rental homes.

Let people with a good rent history qualify for mortgages.

And..

PASS MY BILL - NO CAPITAL GAINS TAXES ON THE SALE OF YOUR PRIMARY HOME.

This will help people keep the equity they have earned owning their home for a very long time and likely allow them to lower the price of their home for sale since they won’t be paying taxes after they sell their home.

It really will help seniors sell their houses and keep their equity, which also in turn gives them money they need and that gets put back in the economy.

As a member of the House, I voted YES to fund the government at the end of September, it’s now up to the Senate.

I have not and will not take a paycheck during the government shutdown.

Again as I’ve been saying from the beginning, the political drama and government shutdown can easily and quickly be resolved by both Democrats and Republicans in the Senate.

The Democrats can simply vote YES to fund the government OR the Republicans can use the nuclear option and fund the government without a single Democrat vote.

Every single one of us has a duty to responsibly govern. We are elected by the American people, not our political parties, and our loyalty should belong to our constituents.

I am 100% opposed to this political game of chicken as it serves no one and hurts everyone.

With the Senate refusing to use the nuclear option to reopen and move forward and the Speaker refusing bring the House back to work, our hard earned Republican majority is being wasted and the America First agenda the people voted for is sitting on the sidelines.
