an inhuman distance
has grown between us.
be it time,
or the space between stars,
we have drifted and lost each other
somewhere in the deep of night,
the liminality
has hardened our hearts,
more #android than human,
colder than the void we sail.

the red tree
lost its leaves
the pond
forgot its face
#arid paths
met & parted
in their thirst
without end
the birds were gone
their souls remained
oh, precious rest
to be nothing
& still belong
somewhere

My dear friends, Haiku and Tanka : Lull, Harmony, and Power in Japanese, by Hikari @hikari2162554 and Gabriela Marie Milton is coming soon at Literary Revelations @LR_Publisher
For every painting, two poetic visions arise: the tanka, Hikari’s powerful thread, unspools with grace, capturing the hidden currents of emotion, justice, and sometimes memory; the haiku, rendered by Gabriela Marie Milton, distills the moment into lyricism—a dewdrop reflecting the vastness of feelings. Both forms, though inspired by a single image, diverge in their journey, each illuminating facets the other cannot reach. In their dialogue, they evoke shifting patterns, perhaps a sort of adulterated perspectivism, as they try to find unity in ultimacy.

Take me into your arms
Let me burrow my head
Next to your heartbeat
I need to let go
Cry
Scream
Shake
While someone I trust
Holds me up
Doesn’t judge
A You
Willing
To be
Next
To me
As
I try
To
Brave
A
Way
Through
Another
#Arid
Day
That’s
Lost
Almost
All
Hope

I grew up
In West Texas—
A hard packed
And #arid land
We sucked black blood
From Mother Earth
To fuel
World’s minivans
Fossil fuel
Is destructive
Seen the data
There’s no doubt
But oil’s wealth
Is so seductive
Feels like
There’s no way out…

The cemetery serenades
But I am clinging to reluctance
Malevolent shrines sing homage
To its beetles carved in stone
I run my hand over the iron gates
My heart beats at a rapid pace
My soul craves this baleful place
