What happens after a digital rights violation is reported? Who takes responsibility, and how can victims access justice?

From online harassment and cyberbullying to privacy violations, misuse of personal data and threats to freedom of expression, protecting digital rights requires more than recognising these violations. It requires clear pathways for reporting, response and redress.

Together with @NhrcNigeria, we brought together government institutions, civil society, legal and technology actors to explore how Nigeria can strengthen its response to digital rights violations.

A key takeaway was the need for clearer institutional responsibilities, stronger referral mechanisms, improved capacity and better coordination among stakeholders.

Digital rights protection must go beyond commitments to ensuring that when violations occur, people know where to turn and institutions know how to respond.
