Our state weather bureau DOST-PAGASA is forecasting Super Typhoon #PepitoPH (#Manyi) to reach its peak intensity of 205 km/h in maximum sustained winds within the next 12 hours.

If the forecast verifies, STY PEPITO could be the strongest tropical cyclone (TC) to impact the Bicol Region since STY #RollyPH (#Goni) in 2020, the strongest in November since Goni, and the first TC to reach 200+ km/h within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) since STY #KikoPH (#Chanthu) in 2021.

The latest 11 PM update on Tropical Storm #ManYi – currently located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) – shows that it could directly traverse or affect METRO MANILA on Sunday, November 17 as a TYPHOON.

PAGASA also noted that the possibility of reaching super typhoon is NOT ruled out before it makes landfall in Bicol Region or Eastern Visayas on Saturday, November 16.

TS Man-yi is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow afternoon or evening and will be locally named #PepitoPH.

The forecast may still change.
