@godfist314 v2013 added stuff like air crush which greatly tips the balance in favor of those who have it, and most of those who got it happen to be Tekken characters. In Vanilla the SF characters had a clear edge in neutral but not so much now.

@FightCoachFight If Air Crush moves weren't so overpowering, Ryu would definitely be up there, but the addition of that mechanic for so many characters tilted a lot of this discussion in favor of those who have them and good conversions off same.

@FightCoachFight Yeah Japan had him Top 5. I didn't agree with them quite as much as the rest of the top tier but having a real DP, completely self-reliance on both offense and defense, 2-hit overhead for tag combos, and most importantly his cl HK, makes him just short of top tier.

@FightCoachFight With the upper 2/3rds it's mostly characters who have reliable reversals, effective block strings, good defensive buttons and lots of ways to reliably tag in and out without fear of retaliation unless the opponent is willing to spend bar to alpha counter.

1) Reliance on where they start a match
2) Can they turn a match by themselves either on offense or defense
3) Reliance on resources
