Let's talk about the remontada of one of the Premier League's modern day cult heroes: Raul Jimenez.

Often when strikers transition to the big time, they struggle. That proved no problem for Si Senor though. Transferring to recently promoted Wolves in the summer of 2018, Nuno's Old Gold didn't just survive, they thrived. Leading the line in the Europa League charge, he made the South Bank roar louder than ever as he scored 13 goals.

Settled in fully, the season after proved even more productive. Back-to-back 7th-placed finishes. 17 league goals. 10 goals in Europe. Raul was becoming a mammoth Molineux hero in an instance.

The season after though, came one of the most horrific injuries in Premier League history: a fractured skull against Arsenal in November 2020. Taken off with an oxygen mask to hospital, his wife later recalled if he hadn't have undertaken emergency operations, he 'would have died'.

Missing 41 matches and over 200 days from the field, many would have thought that would have been the last of a lethal Raul Jimenez who would always notch in-front of goal - given half-a-chance. Yet he was far from finished.

By the end of September 2021, he was scoring winners with Wolves again. By the end of that same season, he had 10 goal contributions to his name. Still so adored by the Wolves faithful in an incredible team, a move to Fulham followed in the summer.

A first season at the Cottagers proved frustrating, drawing a rare blank in-front of goal. Then though, he got into his groove once again, bagging seven in 23/24 and double figures as business returned to usual last time out.

On Monday Night Football, he reminded us he's still got it at 34, scoring the decisive goal v Forest. Donning a head mask and still doing the business despite monumental odds going against his favour, Raul is a modern day Prem hero that does not get the credit he deserves. 61 PL goals and counting.
