Easily among the best books I’ve read this year — From Dynasties to Democracy: Politics, Caste and Power Struggles in Rajasthan. Deeply researched, sharply observed and yet remarkably accessible. It flows effortlessly while unpacking the complex intersections of politics, caste and power in Rajasthan. A reminder that nothing beats rigorous, on-ground journalism.
Kudos to @tabeenahanjum and @manwithaquill for a remarkable piece of work!

Unboxing our author copies today!
This morning, we opened the first author copies of our non fiction book From Dynasties to Democracy: Politics, Caste and Power Struggles in Rajasthan— and somehow, holding the book feels surreal.
From seeing drafts, PDFs, or even the cover reveal, there’s something deeply peaceful about holding the finished book! Its weight, its texture, its presence & smell is like witnessing the idea finally taking a form.
As we lifted the books out of the box, the entire journey came rushing back. The long conversations on highways, late-night writing, chai at roadside dhabas, crowded rallies, quiet interviews, and the countless stories that found their way into these pages.
What began as an idea in 2020, became five years of reporting, travelling, interviewing, digging through archives, revisiting forgotten political moments, and tracing the everyday lives and voices that shaped this body of work.
We were fortunate to find our perfect co-travellers in A Suitable Agency, especially @hemalisodhi@rsengupta2003@AmbarSahil
who believed in this project from its earliest spark and walked besides us.
Our heartfelt gratitude to the brilliant editorial team at Pan Macmillan. @PujKrishnan @udyotcfc whose invaluable guidance, clarity and generosity have shaped this work into what it is today. And Teesta Guha Sarkar for spotting and acquiring the book.
To the people of Rajasthan who trusted us with their stories, our friends, and families.
Hoping that these stories shall live on shelves, in hands & in conversations.
Happy reading to everyone who has ordered the book!
