A maternal death is a multifactorial event, rarely caused by one person, event or factor. Pointing fingers at the healthcare worker is pure malice. No one goes from their home into a hospital to kill mothers.
PPH is the only situation where everyone in Labour Ward suddenly develops telepathy. 😭😂
The blood starts flowing and suddenly:
Nurse: “BP is dropping!”
Intern: “IV access!”
Registrar: “Call the consultant!”
Consultant: “What’s the blood loss?”
Intern: “Umm… a lot.” 💀
And the consultant looks at you like you personally opened the uterine vessels. 😭😂
PPH really said: “Forget the ward round. We’re having a meeting NOW.” 🩸🏃♂️😂
Obstetrics: where one minute you're celebrating a delivery… and the next minute everyone is sprinting around like it's a Formula 1 pit stop. 💀😂
My advice to the medical interns go to where you were selected. Get out of your mamas home and go be great, fear nothing, interact with different cultures, give your best, learn the politics of healthcare and more importantly learn and get skills that will make you a great doctor and you will be great.
Also use the internship money to do something that will benefit you in the profession like get a masters degree,a certification,PLABs,USMLE and start something for your self be it a business( open a company),a start up,a club etc.
Welcome to the profession!
The Path Less Clinical
The old path:
- MBChB - MMED - Specialised skill
Alternate path:
- MBChB [Specialised skill] - Domain Expertise
⚠️ looks scary, you take too much time doubting yourself.
✅️ You get access to expert thinking early on.
Kenyans avoid going to see a Dr due to consultation fee so they go to a pharmacy where the core business is selling drugs. Then return to the Doctor to spend more money after misdiagnosis or worsening condition. It’s crazy in the jungle.
@mbiti_mwondi Here goes nothing , but I guess we are both intrigued by the brain

Dear Medical Officers,
Counties will never release you for post graduate for as long as you continue to be the exceptional doctor who does specialist procedures.
@KusienyaKelvin In politics giving room for second line is like telling those in charge that we can still survive in the absence of ** which in this case is what we call practising poor people Medicine considering we all agree what the DoC is .
For 3 weeks the Kenyan hospitals, both public and private have been running without a life saving drug called MgSO4 used to prevent Eclampsia, a killer condition in pregnancy. That the government have not looked for a solution is disappointing and places the lives of pregnant women at risk. Do something @HonAdenDuale@fnoluga@A_S_Nassir@MOH_Kenya@KenyaGovernors@Kemsa_Kenya@KmpdcOfficial@ppbkenya
Don’t die in the wards, there’s a hell lot more out there on this earth to be accomplished and done in and out of the medical profession. Refuse to be a slave of the profession.
