Continuing this: I feel like I see more people say Tanaka is irrelevant than I do August, even though Tanaka has clear inner conflicts (loneliness, familial expectations, etc) while also adding to the overarching theme of war through (potential) economic exploitation.

Does anyone know what August's role in the narrative is? I know he has connections to the first game (Moonless and Ragnvaldr), and Karin says he has a mysterious journal, but he leaves much to be desired. This can be said about others too, but I'm most interested in him.

I wanted his cane to be a symbol of pride and this design stood out to me most because whenever he uses it, he'll be smothering the lion's head and exuding power over it. The practicality, I'm unsure of, but he would prioritise aesthetics regardless.
