Congrats to Officer Gami Ortiz for graduating from the International Police Mountain Bike Association class. This training prepares officers to use a mountain bike to patrol campus, allowing for greater community policing and networking. Say hi when you see Ofc. Ortiz on patrol!

K-9 Mocca has retired from PUPD after nine years of service! K-9 Mocca is a Dutch Shepherd trained in explosives detection and suspect apprehension. He and his handler, Sergeant Albert Demello, were recognized for their achievements over the years. Enjoy retirement, Mocca! 🐾

Officer Zach Waltz was recently recognized as PUPD's Top Cop—an award presented for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) enforcement. Ofc. Waltz was recognized for his diligent efforts over the last four years to remove impaired drivers from the roadways. Great work, Ofc. Waltz! 🚓

PUPD welcomes Officer Kyle Cates as he was officially sworn in by Chief Lesley Wiete earlier this week. He has experience working as a school resource officer and sheriff's deputy. He now begins field training with PUPD before he patrols on his own. Welcome, Ofc. Cates! 🎉

This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. 📞 PUPD held a ceremony to recognize our dedicated dispatchers. We are grateful for the guidance and compassion they provide and thank them for their invaluable contributions to keeping the campus community safe.
