On Tuesday, an officer made a traffic stop after a bicyclist failed to stop at a stop sign. The bicyclist was found in possession of meth, drug paraphernalia, and a financial card that did not belong to him. He also had active drug related warrants. He was arrested and booked!

On 5/23/26 at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for an illegal left turn. With the driver’s consent, a search revealed a loaded firearm, narcotics, and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested on weapons and drug charges. Another gun off our streets.
Recently, the South Bay Police & Fire Memorial Foundation held their 50th Annual Medal of Valor Award luncheon where Officer Zabukovec was presented with the Life Saving Award. Officer Zabukovec was honored for his life saving actions when he responded to a traffic collision

During National Police Week and on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, the PVEPD honors the courage and sacrifice of all law enforcement officers, especially those who gave their lives in the line of duty. We remember the fallen and thank all who continue to serve. 💙
May 6th, an officer conducted a traffic stop and observed a nitrous oxide canister in the vehicle. The driver admitted possession, giving probable cause for a search that uncovered an unregistered loaded firearm. The driver was booked on nitrous oxide and weapons charges.
On April 30th, 2026, PVEPD & LACOFD responded to a cliff rescue on Paseo Del Mar. Officers arrived in under a minute, descended the cliff, and began care. With LACOFD Air Ops, the patient was safely airlifted. Thanks to all involved and the good samaritan.
After reporting zero burglaries in 2026, PVEPD shares its first case. On 4/25, a home in the 3600 block of Navajo Pl was burglarized. Suspects climbed a rear balcony, smashed a glass door, entered, and fled with property. Remember to call the PVEPD to report suspicious activity.
On April 21, 2026, PVEPD officers on patrol in the 600 block of PV Dr W contacted a disheveled subject lingering in a driveway. He was found to be a parolee at large for carjacking and was arrested for prowling, parole violation, and an outstanding warrant.

A dog was hit by a vehicle around 11:30 PM on Mar 11th, 2026, in the 3900 blk of Palos Verdes Dr N. A good Samaritan brought it to a Torrance emergency vet. The dog is stable, but the owner is unknown. If you recognize it, contact Palos Verdes Estates PD. Please share.
So far in 2026, Palos Verdes Estates has reported zero burglaries. That kind of outcome takes a shared community effort. Fast response times, proactive police work, and residents staying alert all play an important role in helping keep our community safe.

Daylight savings time has begun! The new afternoon traffic control hours at the intersection of Palos Verdes Dr West and Via Corta will be from 3pm to 6pm, on Mondays through Fridays.
