A safe food is where public health begins, not in hospitals.
Prevention at the kitchen door costs far less than treatment at the hospital bed.
The outcomes of enforcement go beyond public health. A society where food businesses meet a genuine food standard is a society with fewer preventable illnesses, more consumer trust, and a stronger food economy .overall Health and economic outcomes rise together when food safety is taken seriously.

#WATCH | Prema Wangjom Thongdok from Arunachal Pradesh claims that Chinese immigration officials at Shanghai Pudong Airport declared her Indian passport invalid and delayed her travel to Japan.
She says, "... When I tried to question them and ask them what the issue was, they said, 'Arunachal is not part of India' and started mocking and laughing and saying things like 'you should apply for the Chinese passport, you're Chinese, you're not Indian..."
"I am an Indian citizen residing in the UK for about 14 years, and I was travelling from London to Japan via a transit in Shanghai... One of the officials from the Chinese immigration came over and singled me out of the queue. I asked her what was happening, and she went on to say, 'Arunachal- not India, China-China, your visa is not acceptable. Your passport is invalid'... When I tried to question them and ask them what the issue was, they said, 'Arunachal is not part of India' and started mocking and laughing and saying things like 'you should apply for the Chinese passport, you're Chinese, you're not Indian'... I have transited through Shanghai in the past with no issues at all. I couldn't get in touch with my family for a very long time... The airline staff of China Eastern and about two other immigration officers were speaking in their language and saying and pointing out and saying Arunachal and laughing and calling it China, not India. That was a very humiliating, questionable behaviour from the immigration staff as well as the airline staff... I called up the Shanghai and Beijing Indian embassies and within an hour, the Indian officials came to the airport, got me some food and spoke through the issues with them and helped me get out of the country. A very long ordeal, 18 hours, but glad that I'm out of there..." she said
I’m from the Northeast - so when I say this, I mean it with heart and history.
Prema Thongdok (originally from Rupa, West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh) was en route from London to Japan, transiting via Shanghai, when she was held 18 hours by Chinese authorities simply because her Indian passport listed Arunachal Pradesh as her birthplace.
They told her: “Arunachal Pradesh is part of China - your passport is invalid.” They even mocked her: “You should get a Chinese passport.”
Here’s the deal:
•Arunachal Pradesh is undeniably Indian territory and Indian citizens born there have full right to Indian passports
•And it undermines the very “normalcy” Beijing claims to want at LAC.
•Chinese interference in civilian transit and identity is not diplomacy - it’s intimidation.
•India lodged a strong demarche in Beijing & Delhi - reminding China that this detention was baseless and breached the Chicago Convention & Montreal Convention on civil aviation.
When a citizen from our Northeast is singled out just for their birthplace - that’s not foreign policy. That’s erasure.
Northeast Indians are not bargaining chips, transit tokens or second-class travellers. We are India - in identity, in territory, in dignity.

This is how democracy should work. Fight passionately for your point of view in elections, with no rhetorical holds barred. But once it’s over, & the people have spoken, learn to cooperate with each other in the common interests of the nation you are both pledged to serve. I would love to see more of this in India — and am trying to do my part.
