This is our last chance to register for the "Open Science in the Rockies" short course at the @ametsoc annual meeting (supported by @armnewsteam )! Registration closes December 29, 2022 ! https://t.co/HdsFzstMym
Heavy snow & mixed precip look similar in radar imagery, so #GeospatialAnalytics Ph.D. candidate Laura Tomkins (@lauratomkinsWX) developed a new way to quickly and easily tell them apart. Her code is avail in the v1.11.8 release of @Py_ART. Learn more: https://t.co/mwTUnw9mko
We have a new release (1.14.1)! New features in this release include:
- 🛠️ New features, including colormaps and retrievals
- 📜 New examples, including a comparison of stratiform vs. convective classification
We are thankful for all the contributors who made this possible!
We are excited to be participating in @ClosemberDev ! Interested in getting involved? Check out our issue describing some good first issues + places to get started https://t.co/I9e7d40L5o
@kurdzowx @RadarScope It's not us :) the community contributed all those tools, and the @RadarScope team did a great job implementing it into their codebase! #OpenScience#OpenSource in action!
We are working on a new package, xradar, which brings this new radar radar standard + @xarray_dev together! Check out our documentation! https://t.co/fXOMl7lqeC
Modestly celebrating that the #WMO's Infrastructure Commission has endorsed the inclusion of the proposed CF/NetCDF profile for polar weather radar data, called FM301-CfRadial2, in the WMO Manual on Codes. This is a big milestone for the WMO and for the weather radar community!
@Project_Pythia@armnewsteam The RELAMPAGO-CACTI example compares corrected and uncorrected dual-pol fields, emphasizing the importance of using quality-controlled data. We also walk through how to visualize hydrometeor classification fields! https://t.co/OE1KimryIM
One other update on @Project_Pythia Radar Cookbooks! We added new workflow examples walking through working with #ARMTRACER data 📡, as well as data from the RELAMPAGO-CACTI campaign in Argentina ⛰️ https://t.co/nH7wpahMCS
@Project_Pythia The #ARMTRACER related example walks through how to access radar data from the @armnewsteam archive, and plot an assortment of RHIs/PPIs from the data, resulting in an animation at the end! https://t.co/3Qrcaogpib
🛰️ DRpy update 🚨: Today I finally released v1.0.0 of DRpy. It is started to be used by some, so in order to enable reproducibility with this package, I released DRpy's first major version so it can get a DOI on zenodo https://t.co/goacdqkVOC
@Metpy @rcjackson_wx And @rcjackson_wx 's #ARMTRACER related post can be found here! This will be helpful when using radar data collected during cell-tracking mode, with high spatial/temporal resolution. Satellite data is also included in the plots, providing context. https://t.co/chM2ms7sHr
We have released a version of Py-ART!! Version 1.13.3! This includes
- 🪲 Bug fixes for default labels, and titles in the example gallery
- 📈 New gridded radar cross section functionality (thanks to @Metpy )
- 📜 A new blog post from @rcjackson_wx looking at data from #ARMTRACER
