-I replaced a convoluted Blender/Geometry node ->baked in Alembic -> baked in Morph Target-> bake to a VAT thanks a script
-Now it's 1 Illugen setup
Here is the VFX in #UnrealEngine 5
I see a lot of my fellow VFX Artist using #illugen recently, I gave it a quick go.I found a really NICHE case where it definitely improved my workflow: VAT creation.
-Blender (+scripts) VS Illugen.
When you wanna make a serious walk cycle in front view but you went too far with your arcs....

@delaigrodela nah ! not cool...
The particles are drawn to the depth buffer and their color are picked up by Lumen, drawback is the classic ghosting + noise
Unfortunately there is no way to filter this out.
So if you want clean stylized vfx they HAVE TO be transparent :(
@delaigrodela Well the problem with Dither Temporal AA... Is that you have to use TAA 🤢🤮
Classic dither node is plenty good as well.
Using cutout mask also allows use of light information, and, If I'm not mistaken, draw in the Zbuffer: so no more sorting issues!
Flock o' fish swimming round and round🎵,
Ominous sharks lurk in da zone 🎶,
Careful fishes, quickly turn around🎵,
Too late! Now you're pack of bones🎶.

@doublecats1 Wait,wait,wait,wait ...
Did you just say that cutout materials are more expensive than transparent one ?
What do you mean by that?
Afaik cutout is obviously cheaper
