When I got back to Abuja, a soldier stopped me and asked where I was going. I told him I was going into FCT. He politely asked if I could give his colleague a lift, and I agreed.
As we got close to Giri junction, I asked the soldier where he was going. He said Zuba, while I was going through Lugbe into town. I told him Zuba is not far and transport there is usually around ₦200–₦300.
I asked if he was stopping there or going further. That was when he told me something sad. He said he was going home to see his newborn twins for the first time after 10 months because he was not given leave. Sadly, his wife had called to say one of the babies had died, and she begged him to come quickly to see the other twin.
I asked why he didn’t travel earlier. He said he was waiting for his salary since it was already the 2nd, but it was not paid. When I asked how he wanted to finish the journey, he showed me all the money he had—₦4,500, which was not enough.
I felt bad and gave him ₦20,000. I also took his number and promised to call and check on the baby.
I want to ask a question, please..
Are these the soldiers we expect to lay down their lives in our protection? You’re owing soldiers, and you want them to be effective while fighting insecurity?
Honestly, this is very sad.
Man shares his touching encounter with a soldier on his way to Abuja.

Many years ago, I landed in a new country with just $600 and a head full of hope. No guarantees. Just faith.
Two weeks in, reality hit hard. My host that I was supposed to stay with till I get myself together chased me out. No warning, no backup plan. Just like that, I was outside, trying to figure out my next move.
Someone told me to go to meet his cousin in New York who could help. I went. I waited at the train station… hours passed… then night came. The person never showed up, and stopped picking my calls.
That moment could have broken me.
But I refused to fold.
I took myself back by bus to Maryland, got a hotel for a few days, and sat down to restructure my life. I really don’t understand how the system really works. People were just telling me to go to Craigslist and search for jobs.
But I needed an accommodation at least. I couldn’t afford to stay in the Hotel for more days.
I finally thought of a friend whose Dad lives here. I spoke to him and he linked me up with his Dad who then linked me to someone from Ekiti State who decided to accomodate me. A complete stranger who showed me kindness when I needed it the most. He gave me a place to stay till I got back on my feet.
From there, things started to shift.
I got my driver’s license. I got a job in a restaurant. I started building step by step, no shortcuts.
And this picture?
This is the first car I bought just 7 months into the journey. Not for luxury, but because commuting to work was a struggle I needed to overcome.
Fast forward to today, I have own better cars, what I made in an entire month back then, I now make more than double of that in just one week. I’m in the category of people who make 6 figures annually in this country. All Glory be to God.
If you’re in a hard place right now, hear this you’re not stuck, you’re just in the middle of your story. Keep pushing.
💔🚨THE IMPACT & DAMAGE OF FALSE R@PE ACCUSATION
In August 2021, Benjamin Mendy was arrested and charged with multiple counts of rape and s€xual assault. Within hours, his career at the top level effectively stopped. Manchester City suspended him. Sponsors went silent. Media headlines turned his name into a symbol of scandal.
For nearly two years, he did not play professional football. He faced multiple trials, intense public scrutiny, and global reputational damage. In January and July 2023, juries found him not guilty on all counts. But by then, the damage was already done.
His Manchester City contract expired without renewal. He lost prime years of his career, income, momentum, and standing in the game. Although he later signed with Lorient and tried to rebuild, he never returned to the level he once had as a World Cup–winning defender.
Whatever people believe about the case, one thing is clear: when someone is accused of a serious crime like rape, the impact is immediate and often irreversible. Even an acquittal cannot fully restore lost time, public trust, or career trajectory. In the court of public opinion, the consequences begin long before a verdict and don’t simply disappear after one.
