@athleticsfan_4 Casey Mize is the most braindead part of it lol. Taylor Smith: “It’s important to consider your ballpark in roster construction”. This guy: “let’s predict one of the most flyball heavy pitchers in the class to sign with sac.”
@discussbaseball Yes, I am. Unlikely dream scenario is a reunion with Sonny. Another unlikely solid option is Michael King like you mentioned. Probably far more likely to sign a Dustin May type arm or maybe Shane Bieber seems more likely if they go after a free agent righty.
@ThatBootlegGuy Yeah I noticed takeaway 1. I think for the position players he just quickly mentioned our three best hitters. Probably was aware of the possibility of questions on pitching and wanted to give us some level of analysis.
Thanks for letting me overreact to a meaningless takeaway.
@StraightAs123 I’m incredibly surprised the mariners are 30th. Perhaps I don’t know their farm system enough, but I thought their development was better at deciphering how to get stuff+ out of their arms.
@AthleticsRants Gotta love baseball. Very flawed team. Jose Ramirez with a very down year but he got some huge playoff moments. Kinda shows how playoff baseball anything can happen. Especially if you have great pitching and a great bullpen. Messick was a playoff disappointment.
@LeeTrocinski I was baffled by this comment from him. Hamilton has struggled with offspeed all year and throughout his career. They threw him majority offspeed pitches. But no, it’s because he bunted once that he got good pitches to hit!
Give Hamilton credit and stop stroking your ego Murph.
@Seth_3773 Yeah, it’s a pretty silly theory considering the dodgers stars that would be affected by a salary cap are old and want to win the World Series while they can, especially for a chance at a 3-peat.
@Br0Dude@LetGoMet@CoachPags775@Brewers Also not to mention, he’s talking like they were grooving him fastballs. He got both hits on breaking balls. His bunt had literally no impact on how they pitched him. Give David Hamilton the credit he is due instead of just stroking your own ego.
@Br0Dude@LetGoMet@CoachPags775@Brewers Because the bunt isn’t the reason for the later success. Chourio being behind him is the reason they pitch to him in those scenarios. Hamilton doesn’t chase at a high rate and 100% they don’t want to mess around and walk him to face Chourio. Give Hamilton the Credit for producing
I find it hilarious that Pat Murphy is claiming that him telling David Hamilton to bunt in his first at bat is why he got pitches to hit the rest of the game.
You have him protected by Chourio. They aren’t going to pitch around Hamilton. Give the credit to your player.
@Gunners4life08@pitchprofiler I don’t think it discredits the players. It just highlights that those organizations know how to maximize the talents of those players and turn them into valuable pieces while being under appreciated by the league.
@BattlingBud@tybuttrey_ I think both arguments are made with different assumptions. The league minimum being median assumes all players who played Major League Baseball this season while yours does not.
Median salary at the start of the year was $1.4 million, a slight step up from league minimum.
I love seeing people complain about pitching decisions and how managers are so unintelligent to take their starter out early.
Meanwhile the only team that has given up more than 5 runs in a divisional series game was a team that was known that their weakness was pitching.
@John304203676@chinooker82@JJWatt I hear you and I agree if it was just an auto decision based off of league averages. I’m all on board with needing some feel.
But if OT is a toss-up, then you need to be 38% successful on 2pt.
Main focus was highlighting that going for 2 throughout the game is not the same.
@WillieKnowsBall@TheProsecutor15 Waiting until the last chance going for 2 gives you a 41-47% chance of winning. Worse odds than just going to OT.
Going for two when down 14 gives you a chance to win in reg and a chance to tie it.
It makes for about a 3-5% better chance of winning considering you score 2 TDs
