Journaling Q-style EPs & high-momentum, news-based trading events. I use VWAP with the 5 mins ORH/ORL & daily chart moving averages. Inspired by @qullamaggie
$IRBT Picked up on pre-market scan I previously shared. Unexpected opportunity this morning. Opted for the safer entry on the ORH/flag break & left $ on the table instead of the potential support bounce but otherwise very happy.
@justinxflynn OR break-down on the 5 minute works well for me. Don't catch it all if there's PM action due to trading options predominantly but it's systematic & offers flexibility with SLs [hotd, close above the break-down candle, close above VWAP, etc] & profit-taking risk mitigation.
In conjunction with pre-market volume, the 10 and 30 day average volume is helpful to get a sense of whether the pre-market activity is actually meaningful.
A basic scan I use each morning to find news-based movers with vol. While earnings names are simple to track separately, this scan comes in great help on stocks with news such as exploring strategic alternatives, biotech data, or other.
https://t.co/Y6omnXuoFE to see what companies are reporting each day. If there is a guidance raise, I will do a deeper dive to better understand if the stock will meet my criteria for an opening range trade.
Being selective is important for me each earnings season.
I want to see a history of large moves & high vol. on past events & having a running list of these tickers + earnings action screenshots is an edge as each new earnings season begins [imo].
$DUOL The @Qullamaggie special. Higher lows in to the print & not far off from ATH. Opens over all resistance with no overhead of any kind. Low- risk entry on a close above the 5min ORH. Close below the break-out candle makes more sense considering LotD distance. Trailing w. VWAP
