I congratulate Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani on his appointment as the Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate by our royal father, the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.

This appointment is a well-deserved recognition of Sheikh Dasuki’s deep Islamic scholarship and his many years of selfless service to the Muslim community in Ilorin and beyond. He comes from a distinguished line of Islamic scholars whose contributions to religious education in our Emirate speak for themselves.

I also commend our royal father for the painstaking, transparent process that led to this appointment.

I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants the new Chief Imam wisdom, good health, and divine guidance as he takes on this important responsibility, and that his tenure be beneficial to Islam, the Ilorin Emirate, and humanity.

Today is the Day of Arafat — the most sacred day of the Hajj, when millions of pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafat seeking the mercy, forgiveness, and blessings of Almighty Allah (SWT).

As we join in prayer today, I urge all Muslims to remember our country and its people. Let us pray for the safe return of every Nigerian still in captivity, for comfort and strength for families grieving across our land, for the protection of our gallant officers and men on the frontlines, and for Allah (SWT) to grant our leaders the wisdom to do what is right for our dear nation.

May Almighty Allah (SWT) accept the Hajj of our pilgrims, answer every supplication, and heal our land.

Ameen.

Inna lillahi Wa'inna ilaihi Raji'un.

My dear friend and brother, Distinguished Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, was truly in a class of his own—as a leader, as a legislator, and as a friend. He was always loyal, committed, and quietly tenacious in achieving his objectives and goals. He consistently demonstrated these qualities, both in and out of office.

Always just a phone call away and always ready to act for the greater good, Rafiu endeared himself to many, both within and outside Kwara State. He was known for always lending a hand, supporting initiatives, and empowering young people.

Today, Kwara State and Nigeria have lost a leader; and I have lost a brother.

As we mourn Rafiu's passing, we thank him for his exemplary qualities and will miss him dearly.

May Almighty Allah (SWT) provide continued solace to his family, and grant him a place amongst the righteous ones in Aljannah Firdaus. Ameen.
