my god given gift on this earth is getting sick, developing a cough so bad I throw up often enough that I end up bruising or breaking at least one rib. It’s a very specific skill that I wish I didn’t have 🤦🏼♀️
I finally found a French reality show trashy enough to be interesting and it’s called au coeur de l’enquête and it follows police as they try and deescalate drunk people and it’s actually wild. The production is unintentionally comedic
I didn’t know that air conditioning was extremely lame in France to the point where the temperature in houses on average gets dangerously hot. Wasn’t ready
@SpudnicSun So accurate, literally. Grown adults have literally believed all their lives that Canada is littered with caribou, or that we eat poutine for every meal, go visit one day, experience wild culture shock 😂 unbelievable
Every French person here finds out I’m Canadian and asks about Caribou. Imagine my surprise listening to debate in the House of Commons where PM JT literally says “on vas sauver les caribous,” 🤦🏼♀️ I wasn’t ready and neither were my
French friends
Aujourd’hui j’ai oublié le mot pour la gare en français et j’ai demandé alors « c’est quoi le nom pour l’aéroport mais pour les trains? » et on s’est éclaté de riiiiiiire
Im realising that culture shock hits different and far more severely when you’re outside of an academic setting and I’m starting to wonder if that’s by design. Last time I was here to study I didn’t notice almost any problems whereas this time I’m not and the problems seem…worse
Homesickness is a real problem which is compounded by not knowing what I even think my home is anymore 😥 there isn’t a place or a person particularly associated with home for me and that’s almost always been the case strangely…so how can I possibly feel homesick? 🤔
