Especially since Harris has a very positive type of personality. It’s in line for his character to see past a lot of the red flags and reframe problems. He just got lucky that Troy was on his self-improvement journey and that communicating openly with him worked.

For the most part, I think that Role Model really does not have enough depth in its exploration of playing a part in rape culture. On the other hand, being able to easily forgive someone or forget someone’s wrongdoings because they’re hot is sadly really common.

i personally think it’s more interesting to look at how troy’s ingrained asshole behavior, misery, and avoidant behavior blinds him from his wrongdoings and keeps him from actually doing better.

i do find it odd that there are so many fics where troy, who is extremely avoidant and who basically hates himself, chases people down begging for forgiveness and makes excuses for his behavior.
