#wecops What if the Probation Service picked up responsibility for organising the conditions?! They are the specialists in this area of work. They already commission lots of services from third sector. And then the police resources required for a decent system wouldn't be limtng.
@jqjasonkew @Jon_Sherlock@WeCops No, and yes. My point is that these are conditional outcomes and so require compliance. Sure, we need providers to use their skills and tools, but if the offender doesn't follow through its the police that need to pick it up again. #wecops
@WeCops Opportunities are better outcomes for victims and community (and offenders). But not if we continue to do it because its an easy option. #wecops
@Jon_Sherlock@WeCops Is it 'referral' tho Jon? That feels more like a one way fire and forget process, whereas I'd argue we, police, need more involvement to ensure its fully implemented in a way that ensures justice for the victim too. There's the rub, as it ceases to be such an easy option. #wecops
@DetectiveHelen @WeCops Sooo many hurdles to doing so... Not a reason to give up, but to be realistic about changes required by the service to unlock the benefits.
@TimNewburn Good policing. Is this type of protective work for police, in our 'post truth' society, going to keep increasing? This appears to be a massive challenge for all government, not just policing...

@JohnNg50019199 And of course there maybe other effects of increased patrol we aren't aware of without further study. Beware of reseach that doesn't look into or take this into account. We're dealing with people, communities and society so there are many factors potentially at play.
@JohnNg50019199 You need to break down 'calls for service' John. The calls made when we are not there are supplemented with: officer recorded issues; increased referrals from the public as police are both accessible and interested (calls and in person); and both due to increased awareness.
