@Scratch_Point_Z I find it fascinating that decades ago, translators took great care to try to get nuane across during a time when cultural understanding was less. The Monkey King famous xing surname pun comes to mind, as an example. It really does appear like we're regressing.
@MadamSavvy I think when someone says "X language is so boring or dry," they likely just mean it in the sense that a familiar English 'dialect' like faux-Shakespearean would be better for a hyper-specific context. I've heard it repeated like a mantra in such contexts.
@Scratch_Point_Z GUST is a unique case where every few years they get amnesia, even before you take into account the whole opinions scism. Sometimes the mix-up tango is good, sometimes it's bad. DUSK series struck a good balance between sim and JRPG, but they seem to have forgotten that.
@Keep_your_Smail Trogs will absolutely refuse to even entertain the possibility that a Japanese native could be fluent in English. It's understandable though, considering the nature of the Internet, but the schizophrenic reaction to the mere idea and subsequent demanding of proof is bizarre.
@iuntue What's funny is that when I read that, I was reminded of Project Itoh's Harmony where the setting was literally a WHO-led global regime and one of the only ways to escape was to KYS because under that Life-centric government personal autonomy was basically done away with.
@Grummz It's more of a toxic positivity problem, I think, than any singular issue. The game itself has a ton of issues and people are just starting to notice the cracks more after this particular MSQ and after footage of the mobile came out. Wuk is the least of the problems.
@Scratch_Point_Z If we're using specifically "fair complexion", then to me, rather than a specific skin tone, it indicates vibrancy and health, in comparison to words like "(deadly) pale complexion" that would typically indicate stress, getting spooked, a state of unhealthiness.
@politicalawake That period was full of warlords you could view as "oppressors" and would fit very well in line with AC. The question is what names the writer filed to be the designated oppressors.
@Scratch_Point_Z Everyone suddenly being an expert at X is the best part. Happens every time something controversial happens. One day a while ago everyone suddenly became legal experts. Here every is now a Japanese linguist and historian on this one singular dude.
@romly2023 The funniest thing about this is the last time foreigners influenced something on a national scale, they left behind a terrible rat-race mentality.
@iuntue Even when you put the script change aside, it blatantly follows the nickel and dime playbook that Fatlus has been using for a while now. They did announce that The Answer will come later as DLC but I bet they'll sell an expensive special deluxe pack, too. Because why wouldn't you
@iuntue It's weird that the artist had to come out and signal like this when it's better to be a faceless entity and just draw because of an attraction to a cool culture and aesthetic and didn't need to further justify it.
@ganaha_masako All this subversion of foreign nations that the US used to do behind closed doors, they're just doing it right in the open. That's really saying something.
@Mondblut1984 The feminists have been around for decades now. that said, the feminists have an entirely different issue they need to address right now since it's going to affect women and women's spaces, like female only train cars.
