We all know that Maa Parvati presented the Vel to Lord Murugan before He set out to wage war against Surapadman.

But did you know that in this rare temple, Murugan is worshipped not as the victorious warrior after Surasamharam, but as the Divine Commander preparing for the battle itself?

At Thiruchaikadu (Sayavanam) near Poompuhar, temple tradition says that before the great battle, Lord Shiva presented Murugan with a bow and arrows. That is why Murugan here stands in the rare form of Villenthiya Velavar, armed and ready for dharma.

Adding to this unique iconography is the Veeragandamani adorning His right leg. Temple tradition says it was gifted by Maa Parvati and is revered as being as powerful as the Vel itself.

To me, this symbolism is beautiful.

🪷 The Vel represents the power to destroy ignorance.

🪷 The bow reminds us that some battles demand patience, focus and perfect timing.

🪷 And the Veeragandamani tells us that every step we take in the path of dharma is strengthened by the grace of the Divine Mother.

No wonder some temples quietly preserve stories that continue to inspire us centuries later.

முருகனின் திருவிளையாடல்களும் புராண ரகசியங்களும்.
நாள் 49: முருகனின் அறுபடை வீடுகளும் - இயற்கையோடு இயைந்த வழிபாடும்

நண்பர்களே,
வாழ்த்துக்கள்! நேற்று முருகனின் அறுபடை வீடுகளும் தமிழர்களின் வீரமும் நெஞ்சுறுதியும் பற்றிக் கண்டோம். இன்று, முருக வழிபாட்டிற்கும் இயற்கைக்கும் இடையேயான ஆழமான தொடர்பையும், நமது முன்னோர்கள�� இயற்கையை எவ்வாறு தெய்வமாகக் கொண்டாடினர் என்பதையும் பார்க்கப் போகிறோம்.

இன்றைக்கு நாம்
"சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு" என்று புதிதாகப் பேசுகிறோம்; ஆனால் பாயிரம் தொட்டு நம் முன்னோர்கள் இயற்கையையே கோயில்களாகவும் தெய்வமாகவும் போற்றிப் பாதுகாத்து வந்துள்ளனர்.

இயற்கையும் முருக வழிபாடும்:
மலைகளின் மீது ஆலயங்கள்:
திருப்பரங்குன்றம், பழனி, சுவாமிமலை, திருத்தணி, பழமுதிர்சோலை என முருகனின் அறுபடை வீடுகளில் பெரும்பாலானவை மலைகளின் மீதும் இயற்கையான சூழலிலும்தான் அமைந்துள்ளன. மலைகளை ஏறி இறைவனை வணங்குவது என்பது உடலுக்கும் மனதுக்கும் இயற்கையோடு நேரடித் தொடர்பை உருவாக்குகிறது.

மரங்களும் சோலைகளும்:
பழமுதிர்சோலை போன்ற தலங்கள் அடர்ந்த காடுகளின் நடுவே, இயற்கையான மரங்களாலும் மூலிகைகளாலும் சூழப்பட்டுள்ளன. அங்கு வீசு��் காற்றும் சூழலும் மனிதனைச் செயற்கை உலகத்திலிருந்து விடுவித்து புத்துணர்ச்சி பெறச் செய்கிறது.

கடலும் அலையும்:
திருச்செந்தூர் தலத்தின் கடற்கரைச் சூழல், கடலின் அலை ஓசையோடு முருகனை இணைத்து இயற்கையின் பிரம்மாண்ட சக்தியை நமக்கு உணர்த்துகிறது.

இன்றைய சிந்தனை:
இயற்கையை அழித்துவிட்டு எங்கு கடவுளைத் தேடினாலும் நிம்மதி கிடைக்காது. இயற்கையைப் பாதுகாப்பதும், அதனுடன் இணைந்து வா��்வதுமே உண்மையான ஆன்மீகம்!

இன்று முருகனிடம் இ��்படி வேண்டுங்கள்:
"முருகா! இயற்கையின் அரவணைப்பில் இருக்கும் உன்னை வணங்குவது போல, நாங்களும் இயற்கையைப் பேணிப் பாதுகாக்கும் நல்உணர்வைப் பெறுவோமாக!"

ஒரு சிறு வினா:
இயற்கையோடு இணைந்து வாழ்வது நமது மன அழுத்தத்தை எப்படிக் குறைக்கிறது என்று நீங்கள் நினைக்கிறீர்கள்? கமெண்ட்ஸில் பகிருங்கள்!

நாளை என்ன பார்க்கப்போகிறோம்?
நாளை, நாள் 50: முருகனின் அறுபடை வீடுகளும் - நம் வாழ்வியலும் தரும் இறுதிப் பாடங்கள் என்ற தலைப்பில் அடுத்த புதிய பகுதியைப் பார்க்கப் போகிறோம். தவறவிடாதீர்கள்!

முருகனின் திருவருளோடு ஆன்மீகத் தகவல்களைப் பார்த்தோம். உங்களது ஜாதக பலன்களைத் துல்லியமாகத் தெரிந்துகொள்ள, விரும்பினால் பயோவில் உள்ள வாட்ஸ்அப் மூலம் தொடர்பு கொள்ளலாம்.

We all know about the Shree Krishna 's weapon Sudarshan chakra but most of us don't know much about his Gada, Kaumodaki.

The Kaumodakī (कौमोदकी) is not merely a mace that happens to be associated with Krishna. In the textual tradition, it is a named divine weapon of Hari/Viṣhṇu.

According to Mahabharat, Adi parva

वरुणश्च ददौ तस्मै गदामशनिनिःस्वनाम् ।
दैत्यान्तकरणीं घोरा�� नाम्ना कौमोदकीं हरेः ॥

“Varuṇa gave to Hari/Kṛṣṇa the terrible mace named Kaumodakī, which had the sound of a thunderbolt and was the destroyer of the Daityas.”

This one verse gives us three fundamental properties:

Kaumodakī = a divine mace
Its sound = like a thunderbolt
Its destructive capacity = destroyer of Daityas

The adjective GHORĀ means terrible, formidable or fearsome, while daityāntakaraṇī literally conveys “that which brings about the end/destruction of Daityas.”

According to Devi Bhagavata, Book 5, Chapter 6

Bhagawan Vishnu used his Kaumodaki mace to kill a demon name Andhaka.

And from the same episode in 3rd Canto Chapter 19 and Verse 3 of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (Bhāgavata Purāṇa)

सा हता तेन गदया विहता भगवत्करात् ।
विघूर्णितापतद्रेजे तदद्भुतमिवाभवत् ॥ ३ ॥

Struck by the demon’s mace, however, the prabhu’s mace slipped from His hand and looked splendid as it fell down whirling. This was miraculous, for the mace was blazing wonderfully.

Also in Viṣhṇu-Purāṇa Ansh 5, Chapter 22, Verse-6 in the battle with Jarasandha, it is mentioned as:

अनन्तरं हरेश्शार्ङ्गं तूणौ चाक्षयसायकौ ।
आकाशादागतौ विप्र तथा कौमोदकी गदा ।⁠।

O Brahmana! Hari's Sharanga Bow with 2 inexhaustible quiver and his Kaumodaki mace came from the sky and stood before him.

The divine feet of Udayavar themselves provide everything to a person. His lotus feet destroy all darkness, bestow purity, good qualities and total devotion to Nārāyaṇa. They grant one jñāṇam and vairāgyam. What need is there to go through arduous studies, practices etc. if one bows down to Bhagavad Rāmānuja?
