@jappleby@DragonflyJonez IMO, it is much harder to sustain that level of winning because we haven’t seen it since the Kobe and Shaq Lakers. And we haven’t seen a repeat team since the 17–18 Warriors. I will admit in today’s league, it is much harder to repeat, much less 3peat
@jappleby@DragonflyJonez True but it’s not just 6-0. They achieved 3 peat which hadn’t been done since Russell era Celtics. Then after his hiatus, they achieve three in a row again with the only player from the original 3 peat team being Scottie Pippen. Cont
@sedated__cat@WhatGattusoMad_@DragonflyJonez Expansion happened during B Russell’s career and he still dominated. Detroit lost Rick Mahorn in the 1989 expansion draft and they still won the championship in ‘90. Bulls lost Armstrong to Toronto in the 95 expansion draft and we all know how that ended.(cont)
@BossNass15@NanobeatzMike That’s one less round you’d have to play so you’re fresher. there weren’t 8 seeds in the nba playoffs until 1984 season. The 06 Mavs made the finals(they lost) but the 07 Mavs lost 1st rnd to Warriors in the biggest upset in playoff history.
@NanobeatzMike The Jordan era bulls defend the title twice, on two separate occasions. Imo, that’s the closest that we’ll get to witnessing the level of winning Russell did.
@NanobeatzMike I will admit that some players are drafted into better situations than others. In Russell’s time, the best record got you a 1st rnd bye so you only had to two rounds to get a ring. What’s impressive is sustaining that level of winning and defending your title 7x in a row.
