@JackxJewell Lots of businesses have queues on the street and vendors selling on the footpath. Is that problematic for you too? Or is it only because they’re Muslims peacefully praying, leaving enough space for you to walk along the footpath if you really needed to.

Looking through the tweets here, it seems a lot of customers are dissatisfied with customer service with @houseoffraser especially as there seems to be no way to contact them
@houseoffraser I still haven’t received a refund for my order sent back to you two weeks ago. There’s no option on your website to contact customer services or query orders.
How and when will I get my refund?

@Helen_allotment I see your weed clearing and I appreciate it 💚
I cleared a similar patch on my allotment a couple of days ago. Got down on my hands and knees and went at it with a hand spade. Doesn’t look like much progress at first glance to onlookers but I’m proud of my hard work & progress
A Muslim passenger was berated by an airport employee at Ben Gurion in Israel because he was late for his flight.
According to the distressed man, he was late because he had been placed in custody for three hours and was strip searched along with other Muslims, he says in a viral video
@WestYorksPolice This statement does nothing to appease public opinion that this was a grossly inappropriate act of aggression by an overly sensitive officer who should be disciplined for lack of empathy and her personal vengeance towards a child rather than be protected by an official statement.
The 1961 Paris Massacre
On 17 October 1961, 30,000 French-Algerians held a protest in the French capital, Paris in support of peace talks to end their Algeria’s war of independence against France which had occupied Algeria since 1830.
Despite a curfew imposed against “French Muslims from Algeria” since October 5, protesters gathered near the Seine river calling for peace but the night would come to a violent end when French police violently moved in to break up the protest opening fire and attacking the protesters with truncheons and rifle-butts.
Protesters were herded onto the iconic Saint-Michel bridge and beaten. Bodies were thrown into the Seine river with many still alive and handcuffed resulting in death by drowning. Eyewitnesses describe how the river became filled with corpses. Bodies continued to wash up onto the shores for weeks.
Graffitii on the Saint-Michel Bridge in 1961 reads: “Ici on noie les Algériens” (“Here we drown Algerians”).
The grim event which took place around iconic national monuments, including the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral would later come to be known as the 'Paris Massacre'.
The extent of the massacre was denied by French officials for many years with the official death toll put at 3 but a government commission carried out after 37 years in 1998 concluded that 40 protesters were killed. This figure is disputed by historians who put the death toll at around 200-300.
In 2012, a French president publicly accepted that the massacre of Algerians took place when French president François Hollande said in a statement,
“On October 17, 1961, Algerians who were protesting for independence were killed in a bloody repression. The Republic recognises these facts with lucidity…I pay homage to victims 51 years later.”
Maurice Papon, chief of Paris police at the time who personally supervised the events of October 17, falsely insisted that Algerians fired on the police to blame the violence on the protesters. He was never convicted for the Paris massacre but was convicted in 1998 for a different crime.
Algeria would receive independence a year later but this day is still remembered by Algerians as a day when peaceful protesters were violently quelled by the former occupiers of their homeland.

@Ismailadampatel The European Union, Arab nations, so called superpowers of the world, the media and press, people round the world are silent and turn a blind eye.
What justification can Israel give for killing this young girl in her own home? Oh I forgot… no justification needed. It’s Israel.
@Lowkey0nline This just show how shockingly little regard for human life he had. Are human beings chess pieces or digits to be knocked down in a game? Regardless of whether they are enemy combatants or not, life is life, family is family, a grieving child is a grieving child. Show some respect
@woke_akh @_MarufAhmed A youth group would probably require even more of the imam’s time than a mosque where only elderly men attend. Young people need much more guidance. It’s still a position of imam and that inevitably means people will turn to him for guidance. That requires time, skill, experience
@woke_akh @_MarufAhmed You’re also unable to go and get a job elsewhere because you have to be available to lead the 5 daily salah. Imagine getting a job and then having to drive back to the masjid for zuhr, asar, magrib salah throughout the year.
@woke_akh @_MarufAhmed You’re the resident imam so not only are you leading the prayers, you’re also constantly teaching, advising, counselling, motivating the community. All this is part and parcel of the job.
