Early this morning @UMich police moved on the @TAHRIRumich encampment protesting Israel's inhumane war in Gaza. Students were pepper sprayed & one has been arrested.
@UMichPrezOno's explanation for these actions is thin and unconvincing. 35,000 innocents are dead in Gaza. 1/
On Wednesday, #A2Council unanimously voted to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for an unarmed crisis response team which “intentionally lacks a direct or indirect linkage to the Ann Arbor Police Department.” 🧵(1/8)

Is this what democracy looks like when people organize against police brutality and the militarization of our cities?
Organizing is not a Crime!
Solidarity with the Atlanta 3 and all the organizers in Atlanta #StopCopCity
As #StopCopCity comrades house in Atlanta gets raided, @UMich sends @geo3550 to court and now sends the cops after them too.
Reminder: the "Police state" includes universities.
U-M admin only know how to do one thing - intimidate.
First they intimidated workers by withholding pay and surveilling pickets.
Then they intimidated chairs and faculty into fabricating grades.
Now they're intimidating grad workers by sending cops into their homes.
BREAKING: U-M escalates broad policing powers to intimidate a union member at their home. This comes after months of intimidating picketers on the lines, sending so-called "campus police" miles away from campus to surveil union pickets, and detaining members. Our statement:
Hail the brave @geo3550 grad workers #OnStrike staring down UMichigan president Ono. GEO is exemplary in its demand the university funds an unarmed and non-police response program! This is what we like to call "procedural abolition." 😘😘😘

*200ish - come meet with us, @SantaJOno! And we're not just protesters, we're union members and allies! Ann Arbor is a union town, and if you're the president of this uni, you owe it to your students and workers to follow up on the open communication you promised!
