The King’s Speech today called for planning to happen faster. So long as that also means planning to #restorenaturenow, we agree. Every new development needs to help tackle the nature and climate crises, as set out in our blog: https://t.co/4RSAqZJ5sN (🧵1/3)
@ChrisGPackham@RNNMarch Chris, thank you for your vision and courage to bring us together focussed on the values of kindness, trust and collaboration. We will come again if you call us. Change starts in the heart - many hearts were engaged yesterday - thank you again. @YorksWildlife@WildlifeTrusts
Hard to convey scale of Restore Nature Now march today; crowds stretching as far as the eye could see through London. It not only signals importance of nature as a political issue, but shows those of us who love & care for nature aren’t alone, many thousands of us feel the same
‘Do not think for a second that if you don’t fit into classical education, there is no place for you in this conservation… There is!’
Nadeem Perera | #RestoreNatureNow
Politicians please take note: millions of people care about restoring nature and they are typically extremely politically active. There are approximately 146% more members of the Wildlife Trusts alone than there are in the biggest political party. https://t.co/ojaxy5OG2D
Over 60,000 people here today shouting loud and clear #RestoreNatureNow! Huge thank you to everyone who has made it such an excellent day and called loud and clear for a wilder future 💚
“I’m devastated by the lack of foresight, intelligence, commitment, understanding and determination to do anything about the single biggest issue in our species’ history” Spot on @ChrisGPackham https://t.co/yDgAKz9ggp
Billions of people are currently surviving in temperatures between 45 and 50C. This is "only" at a 1.5C global increase. At 2C, these regions will become unbearable for long periods of the year. The lack of a coherent plan for this is shocking. #Mitigation is urgent.
During the coming UK general election campaign we'll be bombarded with graphs showing polls, economic parameters, NHS waiting lists etc. Here are a few that I think should be front and centre of policy discussions.

@BBCRadio4 please can you stop this exhaustive approach to questioning by all your presenters now. It’s awful to listen to on either side of the political debate, deepen the explanation of their talking point of the day instead of picking up the most controversial points.
But seriously , what has nature ever done for us ? You know , apart from the air we breathe , the food we eat , making us healthier . . .
Brilliant new ad from @zerohour_uk to promote their Climate & Nature Bill campaign , take action at https://t.co/wKiNkqgGsn

In a blog about our new insight paper, Sam Herbert stresses the many positives of giving nature a voice in decision making:
"Our choices now are not just about saving the trees and birds, they are also about saving ourselves."
