Excited to see the new @HLFoodObesity report which recommends "immediately developing an ambitious strategy for maternal and infant nutrition"
Delays in improving the food environment for IYC expose entire generations to unhealthy foods that hinder their health and development
📢 The Government urgently needs a plan to fix our broken food system 🛠️🍽️ and end the public health emergency 🚨 of unhealthy diets and obesity.

🌞As temperatures rise, let's remind ourselves to #bekind to families with children in small/overcrowded homes that may struggle to stay cool. Share tips, lend a hand or show empathy-small acts make a big difference. Together, we can support our community this summer🤝#UKHeatwave
What he needs to change is the system that puts shareholder dividends ahead of maternal/child nutrition/health. He needs to change the funding to perinatal health to ensure all women are supported in their feeding choice so that those choices aren't shaped by corporate profit.
Our new paper is out showing a decrease in parents symptoms of anxiety and depression after receiving screened donor milk for their baby for reasons such as maternal cancer, insufficient glandular tissue, infant health complications and low milk supply.

BREAKING:
Tom Kerridge is the only chef in the country with a two Michelin star pub. He's backing Labour in the General Election.
He tells me:
"As a business leader I understand the point of capitalism... business encouragement and growth, however none of that happens without a work force that's happy, none of that happens if there's a work force that can't get to work, the transportation system's bad, or their kids aren't educated properly, or they can't get to see a doctor... A work force needs to be looked after for any business to thrive."
How refreshing.

Feeling a bit deflated. There is such a Baby Blindspot in all the manifestos. Little or nothing about life for children at home, before and around childcare and education. Little or nothing about services that support parents and families to improve child development.
And again another photo of a fab crew! Member of the Infant and Toddler Foods Research Alliance met with the @1stepsnutrition for lunch outdoors in Regent Park ☀️🌿
Conclusion of the more recent study from the USP, Imperial College and IARC partnership: dietary guidelines promoting a plant-sourced diet should emphasize not only the reduction of meat, red meat, or animal sourced foods but also the need to avoid all UPF

Earlier I led on a debate calling for Healthy Start auto enrolment.
This would ensure that the 220,000 pregnant women, babies and young children currently missing out would have automatic access to this nutritional safety.

Today in BMJ: outstanding umbrella review of 45 meta-analyses encompassing almost 10 million participants showing diets high in UPF may be harmful to most (perhaps all) body systems. https://t.co/iKE9dci9sy Why and what to do in the linked editorial https://t.co/FJVktM1K96

Loss leader strategy - "involves selling a product or service at a price that is not profitable but is sold to attract new customers or to sell additional products and services to those customers."
