Thanks to @librarytmu and @Elsevier this article is published open access. It was a tremendous effort from MSc students Kathy Ly and Aaliya Pathan. Well done!
We survey the different methods and strategies for integrating electrodes with droplet microfluidic platforms, highlight many excellent examples and applications, and outline challenges and opportunities for the field
Electrochemistry is a great fit for microfluidics, especially if small and portable is the goal. There is a lot of opportunity here and we are excited to be working in this field.
Optical methods like microscopy usually take centre stage when it comes to microfluidics, but electrochemical methods can also be integrated with droplets - both droplets in channels and digital microfluidics
Happy to share that our review article on combining electrochemistry with droplet microfluidics is published in @ELSchemistry Analytica Chimica Acta https://t.co/3fHS7fmFNa
Our first paper from the @rackusgroup is finally published in Analytical Chemistry @an_chem! ๐๐๐พ We developed a rapid test to quantify SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies. https://t.co/DXjXSF7Ytn
Congratulations to @TorontoMetSci professor Darius Rackus, co-director of the new BioHubNet training program, which received $19 million from the Canadian Government to help Canada prepare for emerging health threats. @ChemistryTA#CBRFBRIF https://t.co/R82f4OMAto
Big news from our group: Congratulations to our first MSc graduate Kathy!!! ๐๐๐พ Kathy's work focused on integrating electrochemical sensing with droplet microfluidics for monitoring enzyme reactions
Really excited that Leacross Foundation is supporting undergrad research in our group this summer to develop organ-on-a-chip models for fibrosis. 3rd year female students from @TorontoMetSci and @FEAStorontometu are eligible to apply. https://t.co/j1ctdoUq1A
Hey @TorontoMetSci and @FEAStorontometu undergrads--we're hiring! Looking for an undergraduate RA to help build the next generation of tools for biomedical research. See https://t.co/bYaWwltjyv for more details
We have two projects:
Microfluidics for microplastics separations and analysis (ID 30872) & developing various biosensors for applications in biomedicine (ID 30855)

Hey #microfluidics peeps! One of my grad students is venturing into DLD arrays for particle separation. Is there anyone with practical experience designing and operating these devices I can connect him with?
The first in-person group photo! We had a blast going to Toronto Islands to have a discussion on how to establish norms, practices, and infrastructure to make our group more inclusive and facilitate idea-sharing within a diverse team.
Our former BLG40 thesis student and summer student Hoan My was unable to attend her graduation ceremony this summer but we surprised her with an impromptu ceremony at our professional development day this week. Congrats Hoan My! ๐ฅณ Not only a BSc but Certified Awesome! ๐
We've been silent for a while (busy working) but are pleased to announce we received an @NSERC_CRSNG Discovery Grant to develop tools to measure the molecules single cells release!!
Congratulations to our BSc student William Chen on receiving an NSERC USRA fellowship to work on microfluidic tools for microplastic separations! ๐๐
