Nolan McLean of the @Mets is the first MLB pitcher to have:
3-0 record
20+ innings
20+ strikeouts
sub-.200 opp BA
...over his first 3 career starts since Randy Johnson in 1988.
@AHSodergren@alainegriffin@Toddniem@NYNJHarper If I’m remembering it correctly.. Buck once pulled Peterson after a hard hit foul from Mookie Betts with two outs.. the move ended up working but I thought it was savage LOL
4/23/2021 Jacob deGrom strikes out a career-high 15 batters and becomes the third pitcher to strike out at least 14 in three consecutive starts. deGrom pitches a two-hit shutout to lower his season ERA to 0.31. He also records two hits to decrease his batting average to .545.
Not enough people talk about Keith Hernandez
• .296 BA, 2182 H, 1071 RBI, 128 OPS+
• 1979 NL MVP & Batting Champion
• 11x Gold Glover, 2x Silver Slugger
• 60.3 WAR, 284 Rbat, 117 Rfield
• Consensus GOAT defensive 1B
• 2x WS Champion (1982, 1986)
• More BB (1070) than K (1012)
• Captain of the New York Mets
• Twice led league in runs scored
• Also led in 2B, BB, BA, OBP, IBB
• Brilliant appearances on Seinfeld
• Outstanding broadcaster for NYM
• Sported an iconic baseball mustache
• Keith's 117 Rfield are the most of any first baseman in MLB history, but the combination of elite defense with 284 Rbat is what makes him an all-time great; only 18 first basemen ever have both 250+ Rbat and more than *zero* Rfield, let alone more than 100
One of the great games in franchise history. At the end of it, the 2024 New York Mets are playoff bound. Pretty damn remarkable given the expectations and the way this season started.
Consider this. Since June 3rd the @Mets have played 81 games. That is precisely half of a full season schedule. During that stretch, they are 52-29. A 104 win pace for three months. This is not a mirage. They’re good. Just get in, as we’ve seen recently. Dream on. Dream big.
This lowkey has been one of the most interesting Mets seasons I’ve watched in my lifetime.
From 0-5 (@MWCarse reminded me)

From “the season is over”
To “this is the team of destiny”
This has truly been one of my favorite seasons I’ve ever watched and it isn’t even over yet. You got my attention. LGM
