Watched 1939's The Hunchback of Notre Dame and more than anything else I'm now tempted to read the book. It feels like it mostly rides on its lavish presentation, but also feels thoroughly Hollywood-ified. Not sure if that's the film's fault or just Hugo's non-subtle material.

Everyone else was serviceable, with a minor highlight being Clopin, mostly in his introductory scene.
It goes on a bit long and loses quite a bit of steam once Quasimodo has his climactic "Sanctuary!" moment. The final act is kind of a drag, but kind of funny with it's violence.

Michael Keaton works, Jack Nicholson steals the show. Some truly ridiculous toy potential all throughout.
What's the plot? I don't remember.
This movie will leave my mind entirely within 24 hours and this thread will be the only evidence that I saw it.

Rewatched Batman 1989 and was reminded of why it tends to be fondly remembered and why I constantly forget about it. Great production design and score, incredibly forgettable supporting cast. I will never remember these people.
