The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi, has withdrawn the plot of land earlier allocated to the Tijjaniyya Muslim Students Association of Nigeria, TIMSAN, ATBU Chapter, for a mosque at Gubi Campus.

The decision followed a crisis resolution meeting convened by the Department of State Services, DSS, in Bauchi.

The Director of Information, ATBU, Alhaji Zailani Bappa, disclosed this during a press briefing in Bauchi on behalf of the University Management.

He said the reversal came after the sudden resignation of the Chief Imam of ATBU, Professor Mansur Isa Yelwa, and his deputy on Friday, in protest against the land allocation.

Bappa explained that the announcement went viral and triggered widespread uproar and significant security concerns, prompting stakeholders to meet at the DSS headquarters in Bauchi to de-escalate tensions.

According to him, the meeting had in attendance representatives of ATBU Management, the Shura Council, the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN ATBU Chapter, and TIMSAN ATBU Chapter.

Other Key resolutions reached include all Islamic sects in ATBU will be allowed to conduct religious activities at specified times within University mosques, the Shura Council and MSSN leadership will be restructured to accommodate all existing Muslim sects in the University, the University will henceforth be responsible for appointing the Chief Imam and his deputies., all religious activities on campus will be governed by existing University rules and regulations.

Alhaji Bappa commended the DSS Bauchi Office for its timely intervention and assured stakeholders of strict supervision to ensure full implementation of the resolutions and sustained peace on campus.

He said the resolutions were agreed to and signed by all stakeholders present at the meeting.

It could be recalled that ATBU initially allocated the land to TIMSAN after the Shura Committee barred the group from conducting its sect’s religious activities in the University Mosque.

Dear Gov. Delta State @RtHonSheriff,

I m bringing to your notice an alleged attack on a Muslim community in your state. You're known for upholding justice & for a lot of us that know Delta State before you and now, we know you're one of the best performing governors in Nigeria.

We are bringing to your attention a rather sad event where a Mosque in Oghara was allegedly burnt/destroyed by hoodlums on the excuse that some unknown persons were involved in kidnapping, and as such the Muslims have to suffer for it. On what basis is this animal behaviour acceptable? This remains unacceptable to all Muslims & every peace loving Nigerian. The Mosque & the businesses around it have all been burnt and/or destroyed. This action is a recipe for disaster & calls for a sudden action.

The government should bring the perpetrators to justice, and they must be made to use their own resources to erect a. Re Mosque in that location & pay for all the properties they have damaged.

May Allah calm the frayed nerves of all those who have lost their properties, and curse all the kidnappers & their allies, including those animals taking laws into their hands.
