people spreading narratives like this is so harmful im ngl, and so misogynistic.
if i wanted to continue playing pro, with sentinels or not, the option was very much still there for me (especially with the strategist shortage in NA lmao)
but I couldn't, not with the way my body was failing me, both mentally and physically
i have hashimotos disease, which is triggered by stress, and legit makes being human unplayable LMFAO
competing IS stressful, its fun as hell when ur winning- but its stressful.
my body was failing me; brain fog, fatigue, pain, inflammation on my face and neck... it took awhile for the doctors to get me on the right doses of thyroid medication.
ontop of that, this is when we found the nodules in my neck (they were causing me intense amounts of pain as my body was quite literally ATTACKING them) and had to get them biopsied for thyroid cancer, with a few of them being the highest level of suspicion on the ACR TI-RADS scale
we are still waiting on the biopsy results.
i am very proud of what i accomplished last year, i was the first woman to ever win a tier1 tournament in the hero shooter genre, and the first female pro to ever play for sentinels. going to LAN and meeting all of the Chinese fans who showered me with (loki) gifts.. my heart will remember it forever.
but please listen when i say, that lifestyle was killing me. it has nothing to do with me being a woman, and everything to do with me having a chronic autoimmune disease 😭
(and this isnt even mentioning my mental health ontop of it all)
content creating, and being able to do what my body needs during any given day, has been working wonders. I feel so, so much better.
theres been plenty of days where i have to tell my chat, 'hey guys I feel ill af im going to go rest', and its FINE because.. i dont have scrims to attend or a tournament to prepare for.
I would never be able to do this if I was still actively playing pro, nor take the time off to go to doctor's appointments and the hospital.
so please, shut the fuck up and make sure you have the facts right before you say something so misogynistic and wrong ❤️
ive seen so many people saying similar things and roll my eyes each and every time
@OWsunshine I think the tweet just escaped contaiment lol dw anyone who has ever interacted with you for even a couple minutes would know it's an obvious light hearted joke if you were tweeting about it like that. glad you're feeling better <3
Just wanted to give some insight on team USA because lots of people are talking about it. To be honest this is the most disappointing result I’ve ever had in my career. I can accept when I lose to a great team like Korea but it really sucks that we could not show any of the hard work we put in the past month. We were doing very well in scrims on the double flex comp post patch so we felt like it was the right direction, and I’d stand by the decision to play the comp. Everyone worked very hard on team USA, honestly probably the most dedicated team I’ve been on in a long time and the environment was way better than I thought it was going to be. We were genuinely very confident we could win but just couldn’t perform on the day. I hate to look back but I really wish this tournament or future tournaments will go back to double elim format, so if a team gets an unlucky bracket there is atleast more than one chance to prove themselves, but at the end of the day we did just fall short in the hour we needed to perform. Just saying this because I really really wanted to show how hard we worked and improved together, but sadly it just ended so fast.
Sad result aside it was really an honor and a privilege to work on team USA and with our amazing coaches and players. Thank you to liquid for making this a great experience and giving us the opportunity. Im looking forward to stage 3 and china so I’ll keep this loss in my mind so I can keep working harder.
@Seur101@bazodub@eriksw12@Z9Juice I’m not saying USA doesn’t deserve criticism but you are making the USA players seem like they are babies without brains or any agency suffering at the hands of their incomponent staff when it’s likely a collection of mistakes made by everyone (staff included)
@Seur101@bazodub@eriksw12@Z9Juice What do you suspect the conversation went like? Lukemino sobbing on junkbuck and casores’ feet, begging to play cat while he gets ego’d and they tell him to stfu? Or maybe they didn’t have good scrim results on cat and tried to play a different direction?
@Gony18272665@Cap1tology sure i mean im not saying usa doesnt deserve criticism. more my point is that coaches in ow rarely force anyone to do anything. players and coaches work together 99% of the time and everything you see in game the players usually also believe will be their best shot at winning
@Cap1tology People are so quick to judge and make assumptions about what is happening BTS. Vast majority of the decisions they see (comp direction, maps, bans, who plays, etc) are made as discussions with the entire team and ppl believing those are the optimal decisions with current info...
