Sahibzada Farhan plays too many dot balls.
Fakhar will be 38 in 2028
Saim is not a finisher
And because of this and more, our middle-order collapse issue still remains because we’re playing people based on (supposed) reputation rather than potential.
Seeing a young Pakistan team take the field against India is wonderful sight. The scorecard isn’t pretty but at least we’re doing something different, and I’m all for it!
These are two tweets Faisal Iqbal (former Pakistan Cricketer) sent to my wife today. This is his character. This is his class. These cricketers are supposed to be role models and aspirational figures and yet this is the language he uses with women. My wife explicitly asked me not to get involved. But who amongst you could read such vile, filth from this pathetic uncouth man and not respond. The discussion began with a point on the Mohammad Rizwan investigation. Iqbal made a post where he implied Rizwan's refusal to cooperate with NCCIA is him hiding something. When my wife corrected him that it's an ongoing investigation and he should use his profile more responsibly, this pathetic man's ego couldn't handle it and he felt it appropriate to speak like this. @MohsinnaqviC42@NCCIAOfficial Please take immediate action so no woman has to be the target of this man's cheap targeted harassment again.
One has to wonder who Rizwan pissed off for him to be under investigation for “betting” and “gambling” and couldn’t they have come up with something more believable? Not even haters of Rizwan will buy this bullshit 😂
Since this post, @cricinfo has been singing Razaullah’s praises. Let this be a lesson to cricket fans: these pages and experts are not arbiters of truth. Posting an ability analysis of a debutant mid-game is pathetic, disrespectful and unprofessional. Shame on you!
Another innings defeat in under 3-days coming Pakistan’s way? Not to be cynical, but a lead of 320 is almost impossible to overtake, given Pakistan’s batting performance in the first innings and this entire series.
Aqib Javed’s on National news a couple days ago placed all blame for the series loss vs England on the coach, players and captain. When asked if he has any responsibility he said “one can only look to the future and hope to improve and do better”.
Tone-deaf to say the least.
Jason Gillespie on Aaqib Javed. 🗣️
"It’s pretty clear they don’t have a selection strategy at all, particularly under Aaqib Javed. They change their minds like they change their pants, daily.
Aaqib Javed came out recently and blamed Gary Kirsten and me for everything that is going on. Javed has been chairman of selectors for the past two years. We haven’t even been there.
Somehow, he claims it is our fault. Make sense of that. I think Javed needs to look at himself in the mirror. There is definitely no communication between Javed, who is meant to be the chairman of selectors, and the players.
The players who were sacked heard through family and friends and the media that they had been sacked. How disrespectful is that?" (Code Sports)
And what’s worse is people actually listen to them and believe everything they say. Ex coaches, selectors, management and even players sitting on Tv and YouTube being disingenuous, blaming everyone but themselves. I agree the system is shit but take some accountability ffs.
Love the way that whoever leaves the PCB says that they were doing amazing work and blame everyone else. Also they say during my time we had everything on track. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Pakistan win the champions trophy in 2017 and nothing after that?
Nowhere in that interview did Aqib Javed accept even an iota of responsibility as a senior PCB official and selector for the past two years. Instead, he shifted all the blame onto coaches, captain and players. Not a shred of accountability or integrity. PCB should be ashamed!
Aqib Javed, a senior PCB official and selector, puts ALL the blame on captain and coach for everything. This tells you everything you need to know about the kind of people running PCB and our cricket. This is our leadership?
No wonder Pakistan cricket is dying.
Sack Babar Azam for all I care but please don’t be fooled by the “Yaari Dosti” narrative. Under new PCB rules the captain does not play a role in selection. Do not let these agenda peddling “journalists” divert blame for selection on anyone but selectors and management.
How can an ex-cricketer, coach and former selector open his own team’s dirty laundry on tv and youtube and be involved in bashing players and team in such a humiliating manner? Turning the organisation, his tenure and his credibility into a laughing stock. All for some views.
How can a professional coach replace another coach in an insulting manner midway through a series and then be involved in sacking players in such a humiliating manner? Turning the organisation that pays you into a laughing stock. This entire episode is unethical. #Hesson
Players dropped and replaced within 24 hours. Coaches sacked. Selectors resigning. This reeks of the same man who put fans on the Multan pitch and sent Pakistan cricket towards the abyss. I fear a 3rd Test win will vindicate the madness, plunging us deeper into ruin. Smh.
This may land me in hot water but I owe an honest assessment to Pakistan cricket. I was a fan before I was a stakeholder.
Things I’ve observed from my playing days + actively being involved with the PSL, dressing room and PCB leadership:
- The players may or may not be comfortable.
A. Late nights and junk food are common. Now I understand living on hotel food and being stuck for 6 weeks is tough, but the word “professional” has to mean something.
B. No one wants to do the tough yards. It’s a mentality thing. Like for instance a few times in the test match after a long spell the pace bowlers didn’t run after the ball. What are you saving your legs for? The test match ended in 2.5 days…
C. Compare the test match pace and white ball pace of seamers. They are so scared of being injured and losing their T20 gigs. You have to train to bowl fast to be able to bowl fast. And fast bowling is painful.
- The journalists may or may not be cancerous tumour
A. The growth of Sports Journalism was great as it brought us closer to the team, inner workings, selection and the injustices around Pakistan cricket but like any other avenue in our country, the bad eggs took over and they also corrupted the good eggs.
B. Journalists all pushing their own agendas,
And they build narratives on who they like / who caters for them more I.e these things may or may not be leaks , gifts, favours. Most if not all may or may not be comprised.
C. They may or may not be loyal to Pakistan. It’s only about their views, content, income.
D. They may or may not be the scummiest of all stakeholders.
- Former players may or may not be too comfortable.
A. Barring a few who actually worked and got their coaching badges and qualifications most find it more comfortable to go on tv and just iterate the problems. No one presents the solutions nor goes out there and gets the experience / qualifications to contribute. They all may or may not want things on a platter , without doing the hard yards to become better coaches / tacticians , the same hard work that actually made them so good at cricket in the first place
- job first, Pakistan later
A. The board is too bureaucratic. Everyone fears to speak their mind because they worry about backlash and their jobs. There are people that genuinely wanted to help , but when they see their efforts go no where they stop trying and just settle for their paycheck.
B. The chairman is not the problem. The reliance for decision making in the board on the role may be but in this case other avenues and roles the current chair he’s shown his leadership skills, it’s solely cricket where the results cannot be seen. Why is that? In my experience a good leader needs good advisors.
- PSL owners are not incentivised to grow the teams
A. 10 year lease, you grow the brand, only to give it back to the PCB. So why would you grow if you see none of the benefit? Only the bills.
B. You invest in players and talent hunts only to lose them due to retention rules and category changes that are agenda driven.
The language may or may not have been altered for legal purposes.
Pakistan cricket will always be in my heart. Pray for us to go back to being the best. Not just good or competitive, but the best.
Pakistan announce a huge cull, with 7 players recalled from England. Rizwan, Agha, Imam, Ali Usman, Khurram are among them, while Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal are among the replacements.
Coaches Sarfaraz and Umar Gul have also been recalled, while Hesson and Noffke take over.
Seeing and hearing pundits and commentators who, in the past, have been very vocal in their praise of Pakistan to now being almost disgusted by our performances is quite heartbreaking. What’s even more depressing is that they’re absolutely right.
"There's no way they're batting in any standard to say that is a Test match batting line-up."
@MichaelVaughan says this Pakistan side is equivalent to a second division County Championship side.
