PG&E is continuing to respond to a power outage that began yesterday affecting customers along Market Street between Sanchez and Noe in the Castro.
If you encounter a dark or flashing traffic signal, treat the intersection as a four-way, and stop. https://t.co/GrGPl21vs7

@jeremys@SFMTA_Muni Hi Jeremy! This is Renil from President Mandelman's office. I understand this is a particularly frustrating intersection and a complicated problem. I'm going to reach out to MTA about this and see what we our office can do to help!
Ken Paxton is the most corrupt politician in America.
He embodies the broken system we’re running against.
It’s time to come together: The People vs. Ken Paxton
@SusanDReynolds Well hold on @SusanDReynolds it seems to me that one can be a pro-safety, anti-drug pragmatist and still support workers on May Day (and other days too). The cops btw were great!

Congratulations to Dispatcher of the Year Karen Colindres and Dispatch Supervisor of the Year Zoila Lechuga.
@nikisolisSF@SF311 Hello! This is Renil, a legislative aide for President Mandelman. I'll start looking into this immediately, but please send me an email at [email protected] with any additional context you have so we can best fix it!
At an event this afternoon, a group of individuals that were chanting "tax the rich" began to shout "tax the Jews." This was an event I put on with Supervisor Mahmood, labor leaders, and dozens of workers to announce a plan that creates more jobs for those workers and housing for San Franciscans.
Suggesting that Jews are wealthy is a tired trope, and targeting our community at an event focused on creating economic opportunity for San Franciscans is decidedly antisemitic. I will never accept hate directed at the Jewish community or any community in our city. Those are not San Francisco values—we’re better than that.
For the past week, I have been in direct communication with UESF and the school district, and I have continued to provide support from the city to help them come to an agreement.
Both sides made important progress yesterday, and I am incredibly appreciative of the hard work of our educators and the district.
Now, it is critical that they continue the conversation so our kids can stay in school. I have made my office available to both parties, and I have told them that I will be available—day and night, as long as it takes—to reach an agreement that supports our hardworking educators while keeping the school district on the path to fiscal stability.
In the scenario that an agreement cannot be reached today, I have asked both UESF and the school district to agree to three additional days for conversations to continue—that would allow kids to stay in the classroom and the adults to keep talking.
Our students and our parents need certainty ahead of tomorrow. I know everyone participating in these negotiations is committed to schools where students thrive and our educators feel truly supported, and I will continue working to ensure that.
Officer Nguyen from @SFPDPark Station was honored at City Hall on Jan 21, 2026, for his outstanding service and dedication to our communities. Congratulations, Officer Nguyen!
A statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN:
"We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.
The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."
Every day in San Francisco, we see people with severe mental illness deteriorating in plain sight. They cycle through emergency rooms and jails. Families watch their loved ones slip further away. Neighborhoods feel the impact when help comes only after harm has already occurred.
The state legislation announced today closes a gap in the law by allowing courts—guided by medical evidence—to require treatment when someone is at serious risk and cannot consent to care. It makes it possible to intervene earlier, before a crisis spirals further. I look forward to working with @Stefani4CA, @RafaelMandelman, and our state and local partners to get it passed.
During this outage, keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible — cold air stays in and slows spoilage. Your refrigerator can keep food safe for up to 4 hours without power; a full freezer can keep food safe for about 48 hours (half-full ~24 hrs). More tips at https://t.co/uSgWhL5W2y
SFPD is out ensuring our streets are safe as PG&E works to restore power in San Francisco. Please exercise caution when traveling on our roadways. Drive SLOWLY and SAFELY
UPDATE: Trains are not getting into both #MuniMetro and #CentralSubway due to the power outages affecting the train control computer system and unable to view the trains in the subway. Shuttles btwn West Portal and Caltrain. Consider the 8, 30, 45 for Central Subway.
A large power outage is impacting San Francisco - only call 9-1-1 for life safety emergencies, avoid non-essential travel, treat down traffic signals as four way stops, keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed, and turn off major appliances to prevent surges. Never use gas stoves, grills, or generators indoors due to carbon monoxide risks. More safety tips at https://t.co/uSgWhL5W2y and updates from PG&E at https://t.co/oe4Qmay56M
