Somaliland's political parties should benefit from Henry Kissinger's definition of diplomacy instead of engaging in mudslinging

His definition is considered one of the briefest, deepest, and most comprehensive ever given in describing diplomacy, as he famously stated:

"Diplomacy is the art of adjusting differences through negotiation".

This definition does not merely summarize the meaning of diplomacy; it captures the very essence of politics itself. Politics, in its true nature, is not about eliminating differences, but about managing them wisely and directing them in ways that preserve interests and prevent conflict. Here, diplomacy emerges as the highest instrument of political practice, transforming divergence into understanding, conflict into balance, and competing interests into opportunities for coexistence and cooperation.

From this perspective, the national responsibility of Somaliland’s political leaders requires them to exercise reason and sound judgment, and to prioritize dialogue over hostility and political confrontation. Political differences are natural, but the way they are managed is what distinguishes political maturity from disorder.

The exchange of accusations and insults serves no one; rather, it weakens political standing, diminishes the credibility of institutions, and projects a negative image both domestically and internationally.

Moreover, there are adversaries watching Somaliland closely, waiting for any opportunity to undermine it. In addition, there are internal elements acting as a fifth column, directed from beyond the borders, seeking to exploit divisions and weaken the internal front. Therefore, preserving unity, disciplining political discourse, and strengthening a culture of dialogue are no longer optional they are a national necessity for safeguarding the higher interests of Somaliland and protecting its achievements.

Everyone acknowledges that West Jerusalem is Israeli land, including Palestinian politicians, so what is Somaliland's fault?

Within the framework of the two state solution, Palestinian leaders have, in practical terms, accepted that West Jerusalem falls under Israeli sovereignty, while maintaining their demand for East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. This position has been reflected in multiple rounds of negotiations since the Oslo Accords.

If the argument is that “the Palestinians have practically accepted West Jerusalem as part of Israel,” then there is a politically grounded logic behind it, and it raises the question of whether Somaliland should really be blamed for opening its embassy in that part of the city.

From the perspective of national interest, Somaliland appears to be acting according to a clear pragmatic logic: seeking recognition, building partnerships, and securing economic and security interests. In international relations, states and political entities often shape their decisions based on interests rather than emotions or ideological alignments.

From this standpoint, it can be argued that:

• Somaliland has not entered into direct conflict with any Arab or Muslim party.

• Its humanitarian and political support for the people of Gaza demonstrates that its position is not driven by hostility toward the Palestinian cause.

• Any rapprochement with should be understood within the framework of strategic interests, such as international recognition, investment opportunities, security cooperation, and political access.

• In addition, many Arab and Islamic countries have established formal or informal relations with Israel, often for political, economic, and security reasons. Everyone is pursuing their own interests, so why are we being treated as if we have committed a great crime against the Palestinians? The answer is simply a double standard! It means that they are allowed to do anything, but we are not! We have moved beyond this stage and this pathetic charade.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his attempts to court and win over the people and government of Somaliland

No one should be deceived by the rhetoric of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his attempts to win over the people and government of Somaliland under the banner of dialogue, or by claims that his policy toward Somaliland has changed. Such a view can only be accepted by those who choose to ignore the lessons of the past.

When he realized that the political landscape had changed and that the tools he once used to pressure Somaliland were no longer effective, he shifted his tone and began presenting himself as a man of peace and understanding.

Just like a chameleon changes its colors to adapt to its surroundings, he now seeks to change his rhetoric and appear friendly after losing his previous leverage. But it is too late
the train has already left the station, and all that remains for him is to watch from the sidelines.

Past experiences have taught us valuable lessons. Time and again, we have faced hidden betrayals wrapped in attractive promises and friendly-sounding words, while underneath lay very different calculations and interests. This is why the current moment requires clarity and caution, and why we must not repeat the mistakes of the past or be carried away by rhetoric that may conceal other intentions.

Analysis of Somaliland’s position after Israeli recognition, and will other countries follow in recognizing Somaliland?

If we try to analyze the possible developments for Somaliland, they can be summarized in the following points.

1. Breaking the barrier of international isolation. The significance of Israeli recognition lies in the fact that it would represent the first official recognition from a UN member state in decades. This would create a political precedent and potentially move Somaliland’s case out of the closed diplomatic circle it has remained in for more than 35 years.

2. Increasing Somaliland’s strategic value. Somaliland occupies a highly strategic position along the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea. Its location is critical in relation to maritime security and global trade routes, making it not only politically significant, but also economically and militarily important.

3. Escalation with Somalia. Somalia would likely view this as a direct challenge to its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Mogadishu may intensify its diplomatic efforts through the African Union, the Arab League, and the United Nations to block any further wave of recognition.

Will other countries follow?

In my view, yes it is possible that other countries may follow, particularly those with strategic or pragmatic interests. Potential candidates include:

1. Ethiopia
The most likely candidate, due to its strategic need for sea access and previous understandings with Somaliland.

2. Taiwan
Given the strong existing ties, Taiwan could strengthen its diplomatic engagement and potentially move toward formal recognition.

3. United Arab Emirates
Because of deep commercial, security, and logistical partnerships, especially around the Port of Berbera.

4. Other small or pragmatic states
Some smaller countries in Africa or the Pacific may consider recognition, but this would require stronger diplomatic engagement and sustained effort from Somaliland’s government.

Conclusion:

If a major breakthrough in recognition happens, the most important impact will not necessarily be the immediate number of countries recognizing Somaliland, but rather breaking the political and psychological barrier that has prevented others from taking that step. In international politics, the first recognition is often the hardest and what follows may become easier, though never guaranteed.

سفير صوماليا في إثيوبيا لغة ركيكة وخطاب مرتبك في مواجهة واقع لا يمكن إنكاره.

يبدو أن سفير اصوماليا في إثيوبيا يعاني حالة واضحة من التخبط وقلة الثقة، الأمر الذي دفعه إلى اللجوء إلى الكذب واللف والدوران بدلًا من مواجهة الحقائق بوضوح وشفافية. ولم يقتصر الأمر على ضعف الحجة والبضاعة والمنطق، بل انعكس ذلك حتى على أسلوبه في الحديث، فلغته العربية ركيكة ومفككة، وكأن لسان حاله يقول: "قل أي كلمة تخرج من فمك، بغض النظر عن معناها أو دقتها".

وهو يدرك قبل غيره أن قطار صوماليلاند قد غادر المحطة منذ أكثر من ثلاثة عقود، وأن عجلة التاريخ لا تعود إلى الوراء. فشعب صوماليلاند اختار طريقه بإرادته الحرة، ورسم مستقبله بجهوده وتضحياته، ولن يتراجع عن هذا المسار.

لقد سلكنا في صوماليلاند درب الاستقرار والبناء والحضارة والازدهار، بينما لا تزال صوماليا أسيرة أوهام الماضي ومحاولات إنكار الواقع. والحقائق على الأرض أقوى من الخطابات المرتبكة، والإنجازات الملموسة أبلغ من أي ادعاءات أو حملات دعائية.

أولًا، أود أن أقول لإخواننا في صوماليلاند: احذروا من حسن قرني وأمثاله، حتى لا ينطحكم بقرنه الأعوج. فالرجل دأب على إثارة الجدل وصناعة الفتن بخطاب متقلب ومواقف متناقضة، لا تحمل مشروعًا واضحًا بقدر ما تحمل محاولات للتشويش وبث الفرقة.
ومن يتابع طرحه يلاحظ أن منطقه قائم على قلب الحقائق وترويج العجائب، وكأن كل ما يهمه هو معاداة صوماليلاند والطعن في كل ما يخدم استقرارها ومصالح شعبها. لذلك فإن الوعي بخطورة هذه الخطابات واجب، خاصة في هذه المرحلة التي تحتاج إلى التماسك ووحدة الصف أكثر من أي وقت مضى.

ثانيا: نحن في صوماليلاند نحترم كل شخص يحترم نفسه ووطنه، ولا يجعل من نفسه أداة بيد أعداء شعبه وأرضه. وقد تابعنا بعض هؤلاء الشيوخ، فوجدنا أن كثيرًا منهم لا يظهرون للعلن إلا كلما لاح في الأفق إنجاز أو فرصة لصوماليلاند، فتبدأ حينها حملات التشويش والخلاف، وكأن الأوامر تأتيهم من خارج الحدود لإثارة الفرقة ومحاربة أي خطوة تخدم هذا الوطن.

الخلاف في الرأي أمر طبيعي، لكن ��لاصطفاف الدائم ضد مصالح الشعب، وتكرار الخطاب التحريضي كلما تقدمت صوماليلاند خطوة إلى الأمام، يطرح تساؤلات مشروعة حول حقيقة هذه المواقف ومن يقف خلفها.

هذا المدعو بمحمد عبدي أمل يتستر بالدين معروف بالكذب والتلون، فهو يتشكل حسب التضاريس والمصالح والحاج��. لم يتغير كثيرًا منذ أن كان في السويد وحتى الآن، فما زال يخفي نزعة التكفير ويبث سمومه بين الناس مستخدمًا الطابور الخامس والذي أصبح في هذه الايام يظهر. إلى العلن دون اعتبار لأحد.

والطابور الخامس لا خير فيهم ولا بركة لأنهم عبيد لأعداء صوماليلاند، وهم أنفس الذين أتوا به عند زيارته إلى صوماليلاند، وأحاطوه بهالة إعلامية مصطنعة، وهذا ديدنهم دائمًا؛ تقديم أصحاب الخطابات المتطرفة وكأنهم رموز إصلاح، بينما حقيقتهم لا تختلف كثيرًا عن ماضيهم.

وها هو اليوم يواصل اختلاق الأكاذيب والافتراء على صوماليلاند، وكالعادة خرج ال��ابور الخامس لمباركة أقواله والدفاع عنه، لأنه ببساطة سيدهم السياسي والفكري. فهم يقفون دائمًا مع كل ما هو ضد صوماليلاند، مهما كان زائفًا أو عدائيًا، ولا يرون مشكلة في التحالف مع أي صوت يهاجم الوطن ويشكك في قضيته.

مشكلة صوماليلاند الحقيقية هي في هذا القطيع المتواجد بيننا والذي يدار من خارج الحدود، فهم دائما وأبدا يتبركون بمواقف حكومة مقديشو الفاشلة ومشايخها المتطرفين.

Arab States’ Double Standards

The double standards practiced by some parties have become clear to all. While most Arab countries maintain diplomatic relations with Israel whether openly or discreetly Somaliland is expected to face political isolation merely for seeking to make a similar sovereign decision.

Somaliland knows exactly what it wants and is moving forward steadily in line with its national interests, undeterred by campaigns of doubt or attempts at political tutelage.

Alliances built on double standards will carry no real weight with a people who know their path and have clearly defined their choices.

الفشل لم يعد حادثة مؤقتة في مقديشو، بل أصبح سمة متكررة في إدارة الدولة والأزمات. حكومة Somalia تعيش منذ سنوات على الأزمات المؤجلة، دون بناء مؤسسات مستقرة أو توافق سياسي حقيقي، ولذلك تتكرر الانقسامات مع كل استحقاق سياسي.
المشكلة ليست فقط في ضعف الأداء، بل في غياب الرؤية الوطنية الجامعة، حيث تُدار الملفات الحساسة بعقلية الإقصاء والانفراد، مما يجعل أي خلاف سياسي يتحول سريعًا إلى تهديد أمني. ولهذا فإن ما يحدث اليوم ليس أزمة جديدة، بل نتيجة طبيعية لمسار طويل من الفشل السياسي والإداري.
أزمة تنتهي لتبدأ أخرى، بينما يبقى مواط�� البقعة هو الخاسر الأكبر في دولة لم تستطع حتى الآن الخروج من دائرة الصراع والهشاشة.
