The only way people can cross the street in the centre of downtown Winnipeg is closed. People in wheelchairs, pushing strollers, catching a bus, seniors, everyone. 17,000 people live downtown. Not an issue if they could just cross on the sidewalk like everywhere else on earth.

Winnipeg’s IKEA parking lot is about the same size as its entire East Exchange District - more than 40 buildings. Interesting that the perception is downtown parking must be directly adjacent to the destination, when people will walk long distances across mall parking lots.
