The point of βme, tooβ wasnβt to presume the man guilty but rather to not presume the woman is lying and investigate. Somehow folks have lost the plot imho.
@AmyLundyDahl@jon_wertheim Yup! I agree with you that it is not to say it didnβt happen. Two women making these claims raises the suspicious behavior meter for me, but that doesnβt leave us in a position of knowing anything. So, I treat him as innocent until proven otherwise. We simply donβt know.
@jon_wertheim Germanyβs system is less culturally committed than the US system to dramatic adversarial trials as the βidealβ outcome. If the likely practical outcome after trial might be a relatively modest sentence or even acquittal, German courts often see negotiated termination as rational.
