Tax Audit due date may kindly be extended to 31 October 2026 considering the difficulties faced by tax professionals.
A permanent shift to 31 October is also needed to avoid repeated extensions every year.

NOT JUST A DEADLINE — IT’S ABOUT QUALITY!
The 30th September deadline brings enormous compliance pressure on Chartered Accountants and their teams.
A Tax Audit is not merely a form-filling exercise. It involves verifying books, reconciliations, examining supporting documents, reviewing financial statements, and applying professional judgement.
At the same time, several other statutory compliances also demand professional attention around the same period.
WHEN TIME IS LIMITED, PRESSURE INCREASES.
WHEN PRESSURE INCREASES, QUALITY NEEDS MORE ATTENTION.
Working late nights and extending office hours may help meet a deadline, but professional audits should not be reduced to a race against the clock.
WHY 31ST OCTOBPermanently shiftingft of the Tax Audit due date to 31st October would provide a more practical compliance calendar and allow professionals to devote adequate time to verification, reconcili, ation and review.
It is not a request for less compliance.
It is a request for adequate time for better compliance.
OUR HUMBLE REQUEST
🙏 Extend the Tax Audit Due Date to 31st October permanently — and announce it well in advance.

Traditionally, there has been a two-month gap between the non-audit ITR due date & the TAR due date. This gap is essential for CAs to complete audits with the diligence & professional care.
Reducing this to just one month is completely inadequate and puts enormous pressure.
CBDT must restore the traditional two-month gap and extend the Tax Audit Report due date to 31st October.
