Documented cases of .30-06 rounds entering and staying within the human body exist, and not uncommonly.
Bullets can do weird things when they hit as complex an object as a human body. The round fragmenting and staying within that body is one of those possibilities.

Here is my list of the evidence (documentary and testimonial) presented by the State during Tyler Robinson's hearing. Because this is a probable cause hearing where all reasonable inferences from the evidence will be drawn in favor of the State, I have described this evidence consistent with the State's interpretation of it because that is how the court will consider it for PC purposes.
